Dental students create vaccine awareness campaign
 
Second-year dental students Sophia Pankratz, Jon Martino, Kylie Sestak and Lexi Wolfe partnered with College of Dentistry Administration to develop an awareness campaign to help others understand the importance of being vaccinated against COVID-19.
Student Spotlight: Ayesha Iqbal

Ayesha Iqbal is a third-year dental student in the Advanced Standing Dental Program.

"I am from Kashmir but I grew up in Islamabad, Pakistan. I completed my bachelor's degree in dental surgery from the Islamic International Dental College and then worked in the college's department of periodontology for three years. The experience gave me excellent exposure to various procedures, diagnosis and treatment planning. I also developed teaching skills and arranged many community outreach and preventive health care programs."

"After coming to the United States, I studied for my NBDE exams and worked as a dental assistant in New York for one and a half years before being accepted to UNMC and moving to Nebraska."

Student Spotlight: Khushbu Ijner
 
Khushbu Ijner is a third-year dental student in the Advanced Standing Dental Program.

"I grew up in Gujarat, India, on the western coast of India. I received my bachelor's degree in dental surgery in 2014 from the AECS Maaruthi College of Dental Sciences and Research Center in Bangalore, India. After graduation, I worked in private practice as a general dentist for four years. I immigrated to the United States in March 2018 and worked as a dental assistant for two years before coming to UNMC."

A fun way to practice with lasers!

Fourth-year dental students Logan Kludt Lawrence and Shelby Blum organized a fun activity to help their classmates get extra practice with lasers.

Getting a sneak peek!

AEGD and GPR residents previewed the latest in dental technologies through Ivoclar Vivadent's 2021 Dental Innovation Tour.

The organization's mobile unit was outfitted with a showroom that featured the latest CAD/CAM materials, complete restorative, prosthetic and removable workflow solutions, milling units, 3D printers, 3Shape scanners, and a digital denture system.
