"Look with that Troubled Heart and a Loving Eye"

Scripture: Hebrews 11:13, 8-16

Worship Leader: Theresa Riggins

Music Director: Marisa Chilton

Guest Pianist: Debra Rader

Over the next few weeks we will be doing some renovation work at church to get ready for the installation of our new piano. This week has been some HVAC work and pouring the concrete base for the ramp. The week of August 8 we are expecting the chancel ramp to be installed, and the weeks of August 22 and 29 we will have new flooring put in. We will have worship as usual, but you will see some signs of the work that is going on.

The Wake Forest SOS Support Group will provide peer led support for those who are left behind in the wake of a suicide of a loved one.

Suicide grief has many unique features that can be very difficult. By sharing our experiences and listening to the experiences of others going through similar circumstances we can find some healing on this sometimes lonely, painful, and confusing journey.

Please share information on this much needed new support group. Below is a link to a flyer you can download and print or email to others. If you would like to help Janis get the word out, please contact her.

Centering Prayer

Thursdays at 4:00 p.m.

Fellowship Hall

We are using the book Emerging Heart: Global Spirituality and the Sacred, by Beverly J. Lanzetta

"Highlighting pioneers of global spirituality such as Thomas Merton, Thich Nhat Hanh, Abraham Heschel, Mohandas Gandhi, Howard Thurman, Bede Griffiths, and Dorothy Day, Emerging Heart shows how a variety of religious traditions emerge from and converge on a divine nature and mystic quality that creates a loving heart. Lanzetta first describes this phenomenon in her own experience and then elaborates on that mystical core, the notion of the divine, the new shape of inter-religious dialogue, pioneers of this new global spirituality, and the personal, spiritual, and ethical challenges that it poses to us."

Bags to Benches

We have collected 20 pounds of plastic bags, film, bubble wrap, and mailers in our first month of the Bags to Benches recycling program. This plastic will be re-purposed into outdoor furniture, and most important, stays out of the landfill! Please keep bringing in your recyclables.

Join the Team

Time commitment: about 45 minutes once a month, or every other month if we get a few more volunteers, and a little bit of planning.

What is involved: We have a simple outline to follow using David's children's time message as a starting point for discussion. There is plenty of time for a snack and free play. We encourage your creativity - garden, do crafts, be artistic, go out in nature!

What if you want to travel on your assigned Sunday? This happens regularly. Just switch with one of the other volunteers.

Please contact Nancy or Lori with questions.
