Whether newly diagnosed or seeking a second opinion, all deserve access to expert care.

The ACPMP Research Foundation is a vital ally in the fight against appendix cancer and pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP). Founded by patients and caregivers, ACPMP leads with compassion—funding over $2 million in research, providing trusted resources, and building community for those affected by these rare cancers. We’re proud to partner with ACPMP to expand awareness and ensure no one faces this journey alone.

In a recent study published earlier this month, researchers used National Cancer Institute data to compare appendix cancer rates across generations. Their report, also picked up by major media outlets including CNN and Fox, shows that Gen X and Millennial adults are three to four times more likely to be diagnosed with this cancer than those born in the 1940s.

"Appendix cancer? Pseudomyxoma peritonei? Never heard of that. What the heck is it? Yikes!" Those are the words that ran through my mind when I first read about the rare cancer that was already lurking in my spouse's abdomen. I'll never forget that day.

On June 1, we recognized National Cancer Survivors Day 2025. The Abdominal Cancers Alliance gathered alongside survivors, caregivers, family, and care providers for an evening of celebration!

On June 7, Program Director Amy Hanley proudly represented the Abdominal Cancers Alliance at Maryland Oncology Hematology's Survivors Day celebration, connecting with patients, survivors, and organizations!
