THE ADVOCATE

From the Front Lines of the Fight to Eradicate Homelessness

Dear Friends,

The shelter is buzzing with activity this spring! Over the past month, Austin Street Center had 98% of our beds utilized, reminding us that our emergency shelter isn’t only booming when temperatures are dangerously cold – we’re a year-round lifeline for homeless neighbors.

This season has also been a busy but fruitful time for our team as we celebrated our 10th Annual No Place Like Home event in May, honored our volunteers with an appreciation lunch in April, and welcomed new supporters and advocates to Austin Street this spring through our Family Service Day and Young Professionals lunch service.

For the many asking how they can help, we remind our supporters that donations such as bottled water, snack packs, sandwiches, and hygiene kits will be needed now more than ever as the summer temperatures settle in. These items are not only shared with our clients but also used by our outreach team who pass these out to individuals on the streets in hopes to get unsheltered individuals to a safe place. Many corporations, civic groups, or families choose to assemble these caring packages offsite and schedule a drop off at our shelter. To get involved, please email asc.volunteer@austinstreet.org

Thank you in advance for all that you do to keep the spirit of Austin Street Center alive – whether you’re sending us items from our Amazon Wishlist, sharing our posts on social media, or contributing a monthly gift, just know that your efforts are helping us restore hope to individuals experiencing homelessness.

With gratitude,

Daniel Roby
