ARTALE FOOD & WINE TRIP TO SPAIN

October 3rd -11th 2024

Ralph Velasco is a Rockford resident who has been organizing and leading tours around the world for more than 15 years (and his trips are all 5-star rated). He has a more than 50 percent client repeat rate and group sizes range from just 6 - 10 participants maximum.

Rest assured that the main focus of these incredible trips is the food, wine, spirits, and other historical and natural highlights of each of the places he visits, as is meeting the locals and being immersed in the authentic culture.

Accommodations are in unique properties such as a private 11th-century castle in France's Dordogne; a former private family villa in the Spanish hilltown of Laguardia in the Rioja region; and/or a gorgeous wine estate in the Douro Valley or boutique hotel in the center of Porto, Portugal.

RHUM AGRICOLE

Rhum agricole is the French term for sugarcane juice rum, a style of rum originally distilled in the French Caribbean islands from freshly squeezed sugarcane juice rather than molasses. Rhum is the term that typically distinguishes it in French-speaking locales from the rum made with molasses in other parts of the West Indies (Rum, Ron).

Cheramie Rum Blanc

$35.99

Cheramie Rum taps into Louisiana's rich agricultural heritage. This unique spirit is the creation of Porchjam, Louisiana's largest distillery, which in 2018, ventured into new terrain by distilling fermented fresh cane juice. Cheramie Rum stands out from nearly all domestic rum production by using fresh cane juice instead of molasses working in an Agricole style. The meticulous process of harvesting, crushing, fermenting and distilling is executed in a brief window when the cane juice is at its peak freshness. Cheramie takes advantage of the many varieties of cane grown within just a few minutes of the distillery. After distillation the spirit is left to rest for a minimum of 3 months before bottling. Not only is this one of the most affordable fresh cane rums in the store, but one of the most delicious as well!

Baie des Tresors Plein Soleil

$37.99

Baie des Trésors is the purest expression of the Martinique terroir. No sugar, caramel or other additives of any kind are added. The color is completely natural, as is the flavor. The rum is produced by distilling the fermented juice of freshly pressed cane.

The nose is very expressive, supple and complex, dominated by floral notes (rose, lychee), tropical citrus and island fruits, punctuated by a slight herbaceous touch. On the palate, the attack offers a remarkable roundness and a beautiful complexity, very well controlled, balanced between exotic fruity flavors and slightly spicy vegetal notes. The length on the palate is exceptional, with a warm, lingering sweetness and a delicately floral finish.

Clairin Communal 'A Blend of Four Villages'

$45.99

Production of Clairin in Haiti remains predominantly artisanal: most of the producers work out of small distilleries, or guildives, dotted around the countryside, making Clairin for local consumption.

This bottling is the result of the blend of four Clairins from the municipalities of Cavaillon, Baradères, Pignon and Saint-Michel-de-l’Attalaye.

Separately, these Clairins are produced by organic sugarcane, cultivated without pesticides, fermented with natural yeasts and distilled in small pot stills.

Clairin Communal represents a historic moment: it is the first ever blend of multiple Clairin producers, creating a nuanced sum of its parts with lifted aromatics, fruit driven profile, and a balanced richness. Bottled at 43%, Clairin Communal is designed to create intriguing cocktails but can also be enjoyed in simple presentation or on its own.

The label of the four suns represents the four villages that created this blend, united by Haiti’s national motto: “L’union fait la force” (Strength through unity).
