As we close out another week, the Tillsonburg District Chamber of Commerce continues to monitor the quickly-evolving COVID-19 issue to bring you relevant updates and resources.

We want to continue to hear from you regarding your concerns and challenges during the COVID-19 crisis. The Ontario Chamber Network has regular meetings with government officials and ALL concerns and questions are forwarded to the government.

In turn, we will share what the government is doing to address the concerns of businesses and employees with you, our members.

Tillsonburg Travel is temporarily closed to the public due to the COVID-19 outbreak, but will be available Mon. - Fri. from 10am - 2pm to receive phone calls and emails.

 The Ontario Chamber of Commerce has launched a website to keep Chamber members up-to-date and provide businesses support throughout the COVID-19 crisis.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce launched a cybersecurity program with CIRA, the non-profit that runs the .CA web domain. With more people working from home and many businesses switching to online operations, it is more important than ever that we remain vigilant for email phishing scams and other malicious cyber attacks ...LEARN MORE .

Additionally, Prime Minister Trudeau recently warned Canadians about a text scam going around on the new emergency response benefit. Trudeau said Canadians should be looking at reliable sources for information on the pandemic and relief efforts, such as government websites.

Siskinds LLP hosted a webinar earlier this week providing information about Labour Law and how it pertains to the COVID-19 situation. Chamber members can listen to the webinar recording here .

Deloitte has released an information package on government financing programs for small and medium-sized businesses. Notably, it includes practical information to help businesses access the Business Credit Availability Program (BCAP).

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is announcing a number of temporary measures to support Ontarians and businesses that have been significantly impacted by the spread of COVID-19.
 
Effective immediately, licensed restaurants and bars in Ontario may sell alcohol with food takeout and delivery orders between the hours of 9:00 am and 11:00 pm. All active liquor licensees may immediately begin offering this service if they choose and there is no application process or fee required. Liquor may be sold for takeout or delivery through a third party, such as a food delivery service or ordering platform, provided they are acting on behalf of the licensee ...READ MORE .
Local Updates
As the Town of Tillsonburg continues to respond to the spread of COVID-19 in Ontario, Mayor Stephen Molnar announced that he will be posting daily COVID-19 bulletins on the Town’s website ( www.tillsonburg.ca/cvu ).

In response to the COVID-19 virus spread in Ontario, the launch of the new inter-community transit service connecting the Town of Tillsonburg with London, Woodstock, Ingersoll and other smaller centres has been postponed until further notice. The new service was originally scheduled to begin on April 1.

“In light of the current COVID-19 situation in our region, the Town is postponing the start of our new inter-community service,” says Mayor Stephen Molnar. “We continue to work proactively with regional and provincial partners and look forward to launching this valuable transportation service when it’s appropriate to do so.”

In the meantime, T:GO bus service within Tillsonburg is continuing with enhanced cleaning and sanitation of high touch areas every hour.
