For everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven…

A Seasonal Gift

A beautiful season in our life together has returned - Saint John’s Famous Pumpkin Patch is back! After a year of refrain from gathering for a multitude of activities, The Patch calls us to join one of our most connectional churchwide traditions as we congregate in this fun-filled service and outreach project.

Established as a youth fundraiser by Becky Mitschke twenty-eight seasons ago, a seed was planted which yielded abundance beyond expectation. Nurtured by you and your generous help, pumpkin sales have supported youth, family, Grace Garden, senior adult, and mission ministries and the Navajo Nation pumpkin growers.

Each year a full 18-wheeler truckload of pumpkins has been delivered to us. Your hands have unloaded and placed them and converted our open spaced playground into a field of fall hues on Grace Garden’s holy ground. You have created a colorful maze through which members and visitors of all ages have taken a walk of wonder to make their perfect selections.

A realization of the strength of community has resulted in the formation of meaningful, interactive relationships developed while working in The Patch and welcoming visitors. Preschools have come annually to hear stories read by gifted volunteers from our congregation. Others have made a practice of taking yearly family photos to record growth in the special setting we provide. Many people have been so drawn to our church by our Pumpkin Patch and your friendliness while they visited, that they have become Saint John’s members.

Your participation has impacted lives in countless ways and is again needed as we offer this special experience. Come discover the joy – both given and received in The Patch while your stewardship makes this offering possible. “Many hands make light work”! Click here to volunteer for unloading after church, October 10th or to work short sales/hospitality shifts during operational hours from October 11th through 31st. It’s Fall y’all! See you at The Patch.

With grateful blessings,

Stewardship – Among the Trees: Planting and Growing

On Sunday, October 3rd, we blessed the Stewardship letters and estimate of giving cards which have been mailed to our Saint John's members. We use this estimate of giving to prepare our budget for the coming year. Please keep any eye out for these letters and read about what we have accomplished in the past year. We hope that you will fill out these estimates of giving with God's guidance. With your help, we can continue to accomplish great things in our community. If you are not a member, or would prefer to fill out your estimate of giving card online, you can go to stjohnsaustin.org/stewardship and see all this information and more.
