Our March Newsletter

Ice still covers the ground, and temperatures continue to dip into single digits, but we're ready for Spring. In a few weeks we'll be flying to England, restocking the shop in preparation for our Spring Opening in early May.

For the moment, however, we're offering a few serendipitous new listings to add brightness to the lengthening days, the final chapter of our Fall 2024 National Trust odyssey, another tale from a past newsletter, and the usual bit of everyday whimsey on The Back Page.

Thanks for being a reader.

This month's new listings

This month we're posting a group of small Chinese ceramic pieces, shown above on the lovely console we purchased in Maine last month. This month's listings also include a small group of modestly priced jewelry. To see them all, click on the picture above.

Our National Trust Pilgrimage

Autumn 2024 - Part V

In this month's newsletter we're publishing the final group of images taken during our visits to National Trust properties in East Anglia, including the legendary Ightham Mote and a hidden treasure in London. Click the picture to join us.

Notes From Our Past

Thanks to all who told us that they had enjoyed last month's post in this column. This month we're going back to 2001, when we were still dealing in American primitives. Among the objects we were importing were the small horn beakers that collectors of Pilgrim century artifacts found essential to their collections. When, despite its innocent content, one of our shipments from England was delayed by US import authorities because of some beakers, we fantasized about a dialog that might have taken place between two agents and wrote a newspaper column recounting the imaginary discussion between them. To read "The Great Horn Beaker Caper", click the picture.
