A LANDMARK GIFT FROM PHILANTHROPIST MACKENZIE SCOTT

We received a significant $9 million gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott through her charitable organization, Yield Giving.

"These funds will be instrumental in supporting our priorities, fostering the continued growth of our centers and programs. Our focus remains on ensuring equitable care for our uninsured and underinsured patients. With this remarkable gift, we are poised to extend our reach, touching the lives of even more individuals and families, promoting healthcare and mental well-being for all." - Rick Siclari, MBA, CEO

This gift is a testament to our ability to tackle some of the community's most pressing challenges that far exceed the resources available in South Florida.

EXPANDING ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE SERVICES

We launched a new mobile health unit, made possible by a generous $50,000 donation from the Advance Auto Parts Foundation.

This mobile health unit marks a significant advancement in the health center’s mission to expand access to services in under-resourced communities throughout South Florida. A dedicated mobile health unit can expand access to care to up to 2,000 at-risk individuals per year.

"This customized mobile health unit will operate on a full-time schedule with extended hours as needed, delivering an array of free wellness and STI screenings, outreach, and health education, COVID testing and vaccinations,” - Ron Ledain, Director of Marketing, Health Promotion, and Linkage

NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT

Our health center was recently recognized in an article written by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA).

According to their article, our staff works on many fronts focusing on prevention, testing and treatment for HIV in one of the nation’s most ethnically diverse regions, and ensuring that those living with HIV receive prompt treatment.

“We have the capacity to absorb most patients right away. We get patients started on medication within 24 hours 95 percent of the time and the center keeps about 75 percent of HIV patients in treatment. This is a good proportion." - Steven Santiago, MD, Chief Medical Officer

ADVOCATING FOR HEALTHCARE ACCESSIBILITY

Alongside community partners from the Broward Chapter of the Florida Association of Community Health Centers, Dr. Keri Kratofil, our Chief Operating Officer, was recently in Tallahassee visiting Florida House Representative Robin Bartleman to discuss healthcare accessibility.

According to Keri, "Community Health Centers like Care Resource are committed to expanding access to affordable and quality healthcare to South Florida’s underserved communities. Thank you, Representative Robin Bartleman, for the opportunity to further discuss how we can together improve upon the health care needs of our state.

IMPROVING COLORECTAL HEALTH

In recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, our health center is providing colorectal cancer screening tests to eligible patients in March and throughout the year.

During this time, the South Florida community is encouraged to prioritize regular screenings as recommended by a healthcare provider, especially if over the age of 45 or have other risk factors.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

We were a sponsor and community partner of the Legacy Builder's "From Coffee to Cognac" event that further addressed issues within the BIPOC community and provided helpful resources for the whole person. Our mobile health unit was onsite for attendees to take advantage of vaccinations and learn more about our inclusive and affordable health services.

We were also again a sponsor of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s “En Bleu” event showcasing health center news and information to long-term partners. Funds raised went to their scholarship program.
