HMAA’s Mommy Moments Returns in April
During April and May, watch our new “Mommy Moments” segments every Monday on Hawaii News Now: Sunrise at 7 am to see HMAA and friends chat with HI Now host Kanoe Gibson about topics that parents will enjoy!

We kick off our return on Monday, April 5 with Anisa Wiseman from the National Alliance of Mental Illness Hawaii, who will talk about stress relief techniques for parents.

If you missed any of our past Mommy Moments segments, you can view them from our website.
COVID-19 Updates
As we continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation, here are a few updates:

  • President Biden announced in February 2021 that the National Emergency is extended and will continue until further notice.

  • The Department of Labor released guidance in February 2021 clarifying certain extended/paused employee benefit plan timelines that start or resume beginning March 1, 2021. These include timelines for electing and paying for COBRA coverage, HIPAA special enrollments, and filing claims and appeals.

  • The vaccines which have received emergency use authorization by the FDA are from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, requiring two doses several weeks apart; and Johnson & Johnson, requiring a single dose. Other vaccines could be approved later this year. Please contact your primary care physician regarding when and how you can receive the vaccine.
Free Colorectal Cancer Test Kits
HMAA wants to support members in staying healthy by helping you screen for colorectal cancer with an at-home test kit. Colon cancer, the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S., can be cured if caught early with preventive screening.

As part of our screening and prevention program during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, HMAA is offering free at-home test kits to members between ages 45 and 75 who have not had a sigmoidoscopy in the last 5 years, a colonoscopy in the last 10 years, or an at-home test in the last 12 months according to our records. Eligible members may request a kit online or contact our Wellness team.
