Dear Steve,
DID YOU KNOW that folate is associated with a lower risk of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer?
However, the association between folate and human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, a cause of cervical cancer, has not been well elucidated until a study from the February isue of The Journal of Nutrition. The study population was 11,801 U.S. females, aged 18-59, followed from 2003 to 2016.
Over the span of the study, results consistently showed that those with the lowest blood folate levels were much more likely to have HPV infection compared to those with the highest blood folate levels.

Warning: Counterfeit, Adulterated Supplements Online | On the internet, especially at Amazon, there is an epidemic of counterfeit, adulterated, and purposely mislabeled dietary supplements. In September 2023, a man was arrested for selling counterfeit Pure Encapsulations products. A study from JAMA Network Open found that half of immune products analyzed from Amazon had labels that did not match the contents. The FDA sent a warning letter to Amazon in later December 2023.

State of the Children Update
Steve: There's a bevy of news regarding the our most precious resource, children.
Nutritional Counseling
Healthy eating habits are the basis for good health status, especially for children and adolescents, when growth and development are still ongoing. According to a study from Frontiers in Nutrition, nutritional counseling helps to achieve better outcomes for preventing and treating chronic diseases in children.
Optimal Lifestyle Habits
Reasoning skills are crucial skills in learning, academic performance, and everyday problem-solving for children. According to a recent study in Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports, improved overall diet quality, as well as increased time spent reading and playing organized sports, enhanced reasoning skills among children over their first two school years.
100% Fruit Juice
According to a study from JAMA Pediatrics, one serving per day of 100% fruit juice was associated with weight gain among children.
Screen Time
Kids between the ages of 17 and 30 months-old spend close to two hours daily watching videos, according to a study from Acta Paediatrica. The researchers found a clear a negative association between high levels of digital media consumption and children’s vocabulary development. Children shown videos by caregivers intended to calm or “babysit” tended to use phrases and sentences featuring fewer words. However, the negative impact on language skills lessened when videos were for either educational purposes or in an attempt to foster social connections. For example, through video chats with family members.
High amounts of television watching behaviors during childhood and adolescence have negative impacts on artery function at age 28 years, particularly in women, according to a study from Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise.
Another study from Pediatrics found that children who watched more television were more likely to develop metabolic syndrome as an adult.
Test Kids First Before Using Antibiotics
Testing children with acute sinusitis symptoms for bacteria dramatically decreases unnecessary antibiotic use, new research from JAMA suggests. If antibiotic use was limited to children who tested positive for a bacterial infection in their nasal cavity, antibiotic use would decrease by 53%, according to the study authors. Sinusitis is common in children, and symptoms are similar with viral upper respiratory infections. Antibiotics do not work on viral or fungal infections.
Vaccine Schedule Updated in 2024
Children in the U.S. will now receive at least 76 doses of 18 different vaccines before the age of 18. The CDC updated the 2024 immunization schedule for children, which also now includes newly authorized vaccines for covid, respiratory synctial virus (RSV) and pneumococcal disease.

Thank You for Giving My Daughter Her Life Back
A 23 year old woman came to see Bonnie for many health issues. She was very underweight, even though she had good caloric intake. She had severe adult acne for which she had been given many external and internal antibiotics. She felt depressed, lethargic, and lacked for energy. She had a B-12 and Vitamin D deficiency, even though she had been taking both in supplement form. She was following a strict gluten-free diet after having been diagnosed with Celiac disease three months prior to her appointment with Bonnie.
Bonnie's immediate recommendations were to add more viable protein to allow her body to heal more rapidly. She also gave her a probiotic to help repair her gut from the overuse of antibiotics. Her final recommendation was for her to take our food reaction blood test.
When the results of the blood test came back a few weeks later, Bonnie was not surprised to note that she showed reactions to refined sugars, which were feeding her obvious yeast overgrowth caused by her overuse of antibiotics. The surprising result for Bonnie, however, was a major reaction to salicylates, found in many food chemicals, aspirin, and a host of foods. The salicylic acid in her acne preparations was making her skin worse because it created inflammation, instead of reducing it.
Within two months, her symptoms improved dramatically. Her mother showed Bonnie a “before” and “after” picture of her face. She looked so amazing in the “after” picture that Bonnie almost didn’t recognize her! Her mother mentioned the sweetest words that we always like to hear: “Thank you for giving my daughter her life back”.

In “Chicken Soup for the Chiropractic Soul” a young boy suffered with asthma and a rash on his hands. His parents brought him to many doctors, prescribing pills, lotions and salves but nothing helped. The boy’s aunt approached his parents to consider a different kind of doctor, a chiropractor, and after much convincing, they brought him in.
This doctor was unlike the others as he explained how the human body is an amazing machine as it has within it the ability to heal itself. That chiropractic looks for any misalignments in the body that can hinder the body’s self healing signals. That adjusting these areas on a consistent basis helps the body recreate a normal flow of impulses to the brain to help the body heal itself.
The boy began care three times a week for a long time, then twice a week, once a week and then every other week. The signals in his body improved dramatically as he had no more asthma and the rash went away. This little boy was so moved, that he decided to become a chiropractor when he grew up.
It’s amazing what the body can do when there is a healthier connection within the nervous system. That’s why it’s important for adults, children and even animals to be checked and adjusted for spinal misalignments. This enhances normal impulses for self healing. What health condition are you ready to let Chiropractic care help you with?
Dr. Liselotte Schuster is a Holistic Family Chiropractor and has been in practice since 1989. She tailors each visit by using a variety of techniques that she feels are most effective. She loves seeing children and adults reach their full potential, trusting in the healing powers of their body. Dr. Schuster is in the same office as Bonnie & Steve Minsky as they have been in practice together for 33 years. She can be reached at (847)509-9067 or drliloschuster@sbcglobal.net
