Introducing our Newest Gallery Artists

Ben Annett

of

Ben's Lemonaid

Ben's philosophy toward his art is that there is more than enough new stuff in the world… Ben’s Lemonaid is trying to 're' as much as it can. Reusing scrap materials, re-purposing discarded or dead things, reclaiming junk from natural places and turning it all into art rather than another layer in the landfill. Many pieces are 100% reclaimed materials however some new does creep in to the mix… safety related bits. The photo's below are from a new installation at ArtwithPanache, called Pelee Marsh. It was inspired by a stay at Point Pelee Nation Park last summer when Ben took part in their Artist in Residence Program. The park provided supervised access to their storage/scrap yard from which he pulled the three big wooden beams that were part of the park's old marsh boardwalk. The rest is aluminum eavestrough, tv cable, piano strings and some coat hangers. "Pelee Marsh" showcases the two major Lily species, the Fragrant White Lily and Spatterdock and the tall grasses the park's marsh is known for.

Ben is also known for his numerous metal fish that were previously featured at the gallery in what we called the Aquarium in our AWP Too! location.

Our Second Newest Panache Gallery Artist

Jan Neville

Meet Jan Neville, a vibrant artist who has a whole palette of life experiences in London, Ontario! With a rich educational background from Queen’s and Fanshawe College, she’s not just an artist but also a former Interior Designer who spent two decades creating beautiful spaces. After 17 years of inspiring high school students as a Visual Arts teacher, Jan decided to retire and dive headfirst into her true passion for art. Since the world turned upside down during the COVID pandemic, she’s been on a mission to brush up on important themes like social justice and environmental issues, all while skillfully navigating the canvas of gender roles and societal expectations. Talk about an artist with a cause.

Jan feels that being placed between the lives of her two grandmothers, one who earned her PHD in biology and her other grandmother who was in the first class of physiotherapists at the University of Toronto has influenced her personally and professionally. Here after almost 100 years of these women's education, rights to personal autotomy, disparities in economic security and equal space in decision-making for women are all issues that need to be addressed decades after women were finally recognized as "persons".

Take a look at some of Jan's work currently on display at ArtwithPanache.
