Research spotlight
The Developing Brain Institute at Children’s National, directed by Catherine Limperopoulos, Ph.D., focuses on the developing brain, in utero, after birth and through preschool. This year, our research-scientists had 16 abstracts accepted for the Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) 2021 virtual meeting #PAS2021. Of note, seven (44%) are platform presentations. The PAS meeting assembles academic researchers, specialists, generalists, clinical practitioners and pediatric educators and is presented by four partner pediatric organizations - the American Pediatric Society, Society for Pediatric Research, Academic Pediatric Association and American Academy of Pediatrics.
Congratulations to our Developing Brain Institute PAS 2021 presenters and collaborating researchers:
The Developing Brain Institute at Children’s National, directed by Catherine Limperopoulos, Ph.D., focuses on the developing brain, in utero, after birth and through preschool. We are developing advanced MRI techniques to examine the structure, connectivity and metabolism of the brain in ways that cannot be done with conventional MRI studies. Our long-term goal is to be able to identify babies with impaired brain growth as soon as possible, so that proper interventions and clinical planning can take place earlier.
