Hello Kathy,
Over the past few months, I’ve found myself grappling with one haunting question: how did we get here? How did we, as a global community, arrive at a place so overshadowed by fear, division, and hate?
Someday, philosophers and historians will analyze this era, dissecting every moment. But for us, living through it is nothing short of overwhelming—at times, even terrifying.
At Paws for Hope, social justice has always been our foundation. It drives everything we do.
And now, more than ever, it feels urgent to approach animal welfare through this lens—to connect compassion for animals with compassion for the people who love them. This week, I’ve been asking myself: How can we rise to meet this moment? How can we show up to bring light, hope, and healing to the communities we serve?
I don’t have all the answers—not yet. But I can promise you this:
- We will continue breaking down barriers to veterinary care for marginalized families. Through emergency funding, community clinics, and ongoing subsidized veterinary care, we will make sure no one has to choose between their well-being and their pet’s.
- We will stand beside people in crisis, offering safekeeping for their beloved pets while they rebuild. And when they’re ready, we’ll reunite families stronger than before.
- We will serve remote and underserved communities, bringing veterinary care and other critical resources where they are most needed.
This year, we’re reaching even higher. We are determined to raise the funds necessary to create a transformative space - a place where we can board cats and small animals, host free clinics, and extend our reach to help more people and pets than ever before.
Can you imagine it? A hub of hope, care, and community.
I care deeply about people, about their families, and about their communities.
I care deeply about animals.
Above all, I want Paws for Hope to be a beacon of love, compassion, and connection in a world that feels fractured.
Together, we can rise above the fear and hate. Together, we can create a world fueled by love, care, and unwavering support - for each other and for the animals who share our lives.
