HEALTH CENTER WEEK 2023

The theme of National Health Center Week for August 2023 was “The Roadmap to a Stronger America.” The theme highlighted the achievements and amazing work being done at Community Health Centers in every state and territory.

To further celebrate National Health Center Week and recognize health centers nationwide, the Deputy Director of National Grassroots Advocacy from the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) visited our Midtown Miami health center.

REACHING FOR EXCELLENCE

Our management series kicked off this week! Each session focuses on equipping our managers with the necessary tools to reach for excellence and further create a working environment which empowers their teams to provide quality compassionate, competent, and committed care every day.

A COMMITMENT TO PEDIATRIC CARE

Our focus on inclusivity, accessibility, and affordability continues to set us apart as a trusted partner in the health journey of children.

OVERDOSE AWARENESS AND SUPPORT

Overdose deaths continue to be a pressing public health crisis, affecting individuals and families across the world.

According to Emelina Martinez, Safe Syringe Exchange Services Manager with The SPOT mobile medical unit, “At Care Resource we work with those living with substance use disorder at every point of service, with peer members on staff we can guide clients through behavioral health and medical services. We also provide Narcan to our clients and any member of the community who needs it.”

Although Overdose Awareness Day was August 31. please continue to engage in open conversations about substance use and promoting access to treatment and recovery resources.

THE LIGHT REMAINS MEMORIAL

With the purchase of a plaque for our health center's "The Light Remains" memorial, staff have a unique opportunity to commemorate the life of a loved one.

Also, by purchasing a plaque, staff have the opportunity to be invited to the memorial's dedication and our special rooftop 40th Anniversary event on September 29. If you would like to volunteer for this anniversary event, please email marketing@careresource.org.

SCALING UP PrEP ACCESS AND UTILIZATION

Alongside the Fast-Track Cities Institute and International Association of Providers of AIDS Care,

Steven Santiago, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Rafael Jimenez, MS, Director of Social Services and Food for Life Network, and Wincy Guillen, PrEP Navigator with our Medical Services team participated in the Intra-Jurisdictional EHE/FTC's Alignment Workshop titled, “Scaling Up PrEP Access and Utilization.

We continue to offer full PrEP services at all our health centers. In addition, we offer PrEP at home complete with at-home test kits, virtual provider visits and prescription medications mailed directly to one's home. UPCOMING ANNUAL MEETING ON OCTOBER 27

Our Annual Meeting will be happening on Friday, October 27, 2023. We are looking forward to another fantastic, informative, and rewarding meeting.

 As our health center has been an integral part of our South Florida community for 40 years, the theme of the meeting is "Rooted in Community."

This is a mandatory meeting for ALL staff and attendance is required. As always, all operations will be closed that day to focus on our meeting, so please mark your calendars and block your schedules! More details to come as we approach the date.
