Who's your hero or heroine? We all have someone we look up to. But have you ever thought that someone looks up to you as their hero or heroine? Is there not a hero inside all of us?

Well, that's what we are going to talk about for the next seven weeks in our new Fall series, Our Story: A Heroic Journey. I can only assume that Jesus is one of your heroes. He is certainly my top hero. And one of the things I really like about Jesus is how he always believed that everyone was a hero and so he invited everyone he met to follow him.

That's what we are going to do for seven weeks. We're going to look at the heroic journey of Jesus and see how it parallels our own heroic journey.

But most important of all, we're going to have a chance to look at our own life stories in small groups. From birth until now we are going to see how the ups and downs, the twists and turns, the struggles and joys have led us to where we are today. And not only that, but also see that it's the path that has brought us here that now sounds the call to the adventures of life that are still out there.

Jesus shows us that everyone's heroic journey, no matter the challenges, is always accompanied by God's unconditional love and unlimited welcome that leads to an unwavering hope.

Without meaning to sound trite, this is one of the most important series and small group opportunities we have offered at Crossroads. Knowing our story; knowing that all our stories are sacred. Knowing that it is along the pathway of life where we meet Ourselves - both shadow and light, Others - as mentors and guides, and God - who is bigger than life itself and calls us to something bigger than ourselves is how we are transformed.

I hope you will be a part of this series by attending as many Sundays as you can and being a part of a small group. I promise you will see your life journey with new eyes and renewed hope for yourself and the world.

With Fall kicking into high gear, there are lots of opportunities for each of us to grow spiritually. Please take a minute or two to scroll through the many ways to connect below.

I hope you have been enjoying the beautiful native pollinator garden at the entrance to the building. I want to give a shout out to the great work that team is doing. On Thursday I counted 12 caterpillars in the garden that will soon become monarch butterflies and begin their journey to Mexico.

Here's really good news, you can have a native pollinator garden at your home. On September 11th, Landscape for Life will show you how. This is a simple and beautiful way to care for our pollinators who together care for the well being of our environment. Learn more here .

One final thing: Beginning on September 22nd, and then on each subsequent third Sunday of the month, we will be offering a "Get to know your Crossroads family better" time during Linger Longer. If you are new, or have been around for sometime and want to know more about our incredible Crossroads family, then plan to attend one these times. I am looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you better as well.

See you soon,
