Our Students Are Keeping Music Alive
Greetings!

Photos and videos have been streaming in from our KO families and we are just in awe of how our students have continued to engage with music during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thanks to supporters like you, we were able to quickly adapt our service model to a virtual setting with KO@Home .

Through KO@Home , our students and families have been able to access a variety of virtual music learning resources — from mini-lesson videos featuring our Teaching Artists to, more recently, social-emotional distant learning lessons.

Music has been important in bringing comfort during this difficult and uncertain time, and we're so proud of our students for keeping music alive @ home.

Check out what our students have been up to:

Everett H. from our Zachary Elementary School Program Site

"I wanted to let you know how impressed I am with Everett’s music skills . . . He enjoys Kids Orchestra so much that we got him his own pBone to practice with over the summer."
-Rebecca H. (mother)
Cayla C. from our Westdale Heights Academic Magnet Program Site

" Cayla is reviewing Lesson #2 with Ms. Lea trying to get a quality sound!"
-Tonya C. (mother)
Charge J. from our LaSalle Elementary Program Site

"We are so sincerely thankful that Kids' Orchestra has continued through this time of so many uncertainties. Kids' Orchestra has provided for my kids a sense of normalcy. Thank you."
-Shameka J. (mother)
Zoe H. from our BR FLAIM Program Site

"She and we just wanted to share and say hello. As well as thank you for the ways you are helping her to stay engaged during this time. Zoë can’t wait to see everyone again next year."
-Carmon H. (mother)
Joshua A. from our Dufrocq School Program Site

"Joshua has been enjoying practicing his trumpet and seeing the new lessons from his teacher Hannah!! We are so happy to be a part of Kids' Orchestra and love all that they offer to the students and the community!!"
-Rachel A. (mother)
Jada C. from our Park Ridge Academic Magnet Program Site

"She has been watching the videos on how to care for her cello. She enjoys the videos because she gets to see her music teacher. Music helps Jada to focus on the positive things."
-Shameka C. (mother)
Because of supporters like you, these students have the chance to keep learning music.

Thank you so very much for helping us help them keep music alive.

Sincerely,
Jody Hanet
