Looking back on the past school year, and reflecting on the challenges we have faced and are still facing right now in our communities, we here at Merrymeeting Adult Education wanted to take stock this summer of those special threads that bind us, no matter our differences. The American flag can mean many things to many people, but we believe that it also stands for reverence to those among us who have staked their lives in pursuit of a greater good. In line with our mission of enhancing the lives of the residents we serve through community education, we want to take this opportunity with our Summer 2022 catalog cover to highlight the sacrifice and commitment of our military veterans, who are a valued part of our community. The cover picture, a mixed media artwork by our very own Enrichment Administrative Assistant, Catherine Scanlon, serves as a reminder to us all that our freedoms and liberties hinge continuously on the bravery of a few and the vigilance of us all. The image of the flag draped outside Faneuil Hall in Boston, was created soon after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. We honor the memory of our fallen and celebrate the lives of our retired service members.
