When I was young, February 14th was not a special day because it was Valentine’s day, it was a special day to me because it is my mother’s Birthday.
Then as a young adult, a short while after my wife & I started dating (so many years ago!!) I asked her, when is your birthday? Imagine my surprise when she told me it was February 14th!!
For those of you who know me, or have read my book, you know
I am fond of this quote:
“The success of what you are currently doing is based upon the foundation which immediately precedes it.”
These two Valentine's day girls are the most important women in my life, and have been the heart of my “foundation”.
My mother raised me with a foundation of love, faith, and support. She repeatedly told me when I was young, “Joshua, you can do anything you put your mind to”.
My wife has been there in my adulthood, as my loving companion. She has supported me through every up, and down life has thrown at us. She is the fantastic mother of our children, she is the foundation of our family, and the absolute love of my life.
I can look back and see how much of my success has come from the foundation these two Valentine's Birthday Girls have provided to me.
Valentine’s day has become a commercial enterprise like so many other things in today’s world, but it is also a day to stop, reflect, and tell those you love just how much they mean to you in your life.
Who has provided your foundation? Who has been there for you, in good times, and difficult times? Who are those that have left an impression that has had an impact on the foundation of who you are?
I can indisputably say these two Valentine's Birthday Girls have done that for me!
