Middle School students hard at work on Mid-Terms!
Greetings from Mr. G
January 17, 2020
It is good to feel the energy that comes with the new year, the longer daylight and the relatively mild days so far in January. Students are engaged in the myriad of academic, enrichment, service, faith and athletic programs that nurture well rounded people.
Dear St. Rose School Families,
We are back in the school groove and the calendar pages are turning quickly. I have spent a lot of time in the classrooms this week and I like what I see -- motivated, focused teachers and students working together toward common goals. Well done!
Catholic Schools Week is right around the corner! We are really excited that all of our town leaders, First Selectman Mr. Rosenthal, Chief Viadero, Representative Mitch Bolinsky and Senator Tony Hwang will be joining us for lunch and to participate in the school wide Knowledge Bowl on Tuesday January 28th. There are many other exciting activities planned for the week which are included in this newsletter. We hope you can join us! You can find details in Mrs. B's Student Life Update below.
I sincerely hope that all of our current school families have registered for the 2020-2021 school year. If you haven't yet please do so before the Open House to ensure your child's spot in the process.
Thanks to all of the parents and students who have volunteered to help with Open House on January 26th. This weekend St. Rose students will be speaking at all of the masses and during Open House we have a number of Student and Parent ambassadors who will help with tours and questions. I also appreciate that all of our Faculty will be present that day. You are all the heart of this school and it shows to those who visit us.
Our Blooms Benefit is around the corner too. You should have received invitations this week -- we hope you can join us for this important event as we celebrate all the years of St. Rose School and the benefits of Catholic education. Our honorees Dr. and Mrs. Murphy have strong roots here and continue to support our mission.
As always, we are thankful for the opportunity to celebrate Mass together on Fridays. Next week 8th grade will be readers and 3rd grade will lead us in song. Please join us if you can.
I hope you have a relaxing long weekend.

Day by day our children discover more about God's wonderful world.
As we indicated to you in our note last week, many activities are underway that we need your help to pull off - the first of which is in two short weeks. To cap off Catholic Schools week, on Friday, January 31, we are going to treat our St. Rose faculty and staff to lunch. More specifically, a soup bar with all the fixings to let them know we think they're "souper"! (Yes, we know it's a bit silly but we polled our 1st graders and they thought the play on words was pure genius! ). Please be on the lookout for a sign up genius to volunteer for the event - set up, chef and clean up volunteers are all needed and appreciated.
Just a reminder that tonight is Bingo! It's a great event to attend as a family and we hope to see you all there with your dobbers and lucky charms. Doors open at 5:45pm and the games begin promptly at 6:30pm. See you there!
Get ready for 8th Grade night, a time to celebrate our 8th grade student athletes in a special ceremony. These will take place on February 3rd for the Girls and February 12th for the Boys. Come out and cheer for our 8th graders!
Stay tuned for information about Track which always proves to be a wonderful experience for
We are excited for a night of fun and fundraising on February 29th at the Fox Hill Inn as we honor Dr. John and Mrs. Nancy Murphy for their dedication to Catholic education. We will gather with St. Rose School families, past and present, parishioners and community members to celebrate our rich history and bright future.
This is a very important night and significant fundraiser as we strive to meet our $150,000 goal. Please make every effort to attend. Together we can keep the heart of St. Rose School beating strong.
Talk it up with your friends and get a table together! Volunteers are needed and appreciated. Contact Laura, email@example.com.
