"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom."
SCHOOL IS CLOSED MONDAY OCTOBER 14TH FOR COLUMBUS DAY. ENJOY THE LONG WEEKEND!
Greetings from Mr. G
October 11, 2019
Congratulations to Mrs. B who won First Place in the Teacher Recognition Contest Sponsored by Sports Center in Shelton.
Dear St. Rose School Families,
Showing appreciation to the people in our lives who truly make a difference is very important. Yet our hectic schedules often prevent us from expressing our gratitude. Today I'd like to say THANK YOU to my dedicated faculty, our awesome students, our supportive parents, grandparents and other family members, our clergy and community leaders -- you are all a precious part of the St. Rose School family and a blessing to me.
On this topic, I am delighted to share that Mrs. B received First Place in the Teacher Appreciation contest sponsored by Sports Center in Shelton. This is a well deserved honor for a person who gives her heart to all who walk these halls. I am certainly grateful for all that she does to help me on a daily basis. Congratulations Mrs. B!
Our Buddy program continues to thrive and really sets us apart as a school community. This year Buddies will engage in a variety of service projects that combine with a lesson. Mrs. Petrillo and Mrs. Heyder's students recently studied St. Francis of Assisi in a lesson that entailed blessing animals and making creches. Over the next two weeks they are collecting needed items for Newtown Animal Control. Learning and service in action.
The rains prevented us from having our Pumpkin Bowl this week but don't worry, it's been rescheduled for next Wednesday, October 16th at 1:00 p.m. Please join us for this fun event.
The cooler days have arrived. Barring rain, recess will be outdoors so please send children to school with appropriate outer wear. The fresh air and great outdoors is a wonderful refresher during the school day. Please remember that Winter uniforms begin Tuesday October 15th.
At next Friday's school Mass, the 8th graders will be our readers, gift bearers and altar servers; 5th graders will lead us in song. All are welcome to join us.
We are heading in to a three day weekend. Enjoy!

NOTE: WINTER UNIFORMS GO INTO EFFECT OCTOBER 15TH!
Tonight is Bingo night! Doors open at 5:45pm and the games begin at 6:30pm. Last month's event was well attended, and we hope to see you and your family in the gathering hall this evening.
Trunk or Treat is two weeks from today. We have attached a flyer with all of the details as well as a sign-up genius for volunteers for this popular event. Please consider donating twenty to thirty minutes of your time to help the evening run smoothly.
We appreciate all you do to support our school and our fundraising initiatives!
One of the many perks of 8th grade year is the traditional Turkey Bowl. Starting this year the event will be The Pumpkin Bowl (better weather, less muddy field) and it is slated for Wednesday October 16th at 1:00 PM out on the big field. The teams have been established and 7th graders are working on cheers. All classes in the school will have a dress down that day in their chosen team's color (light blue, orange). We will gather on the sidelines to cheer the teams on and hope as many parents, grandparents and other family members as possible can join us. Alumni welcome too!
We look forward to seeing you on the field and if you can't come we promise to take pictures.
We are pleased to be able to offer Before and After school Child care to our families. This is a fee based service that is staffed by trained, caring teachers and staff. Before school care is available starting at 7:00 a.m.; After school care is available from the time of dismissal through 6:00 p.m. Hours may change on holidays and school half days.
If you are interested please contact Mrs. Wong, email@example.com.
Everyone needs to eat and by purchasing gift cards to local grocery stores to do your food shopping you can make a HUGE difference.
Here’s the math . . .
Most stores offer an average 5% rebate to our HSA, so based on one family:
$400/month x 12 months = $4800
That’s a $240 rebate per year for ONE FAMILY!
With all 180 families participating . . .
$240 x 180 = $43,200!!!!!
Could you IMAGINE what we could do with an extra $43,200 that is not costing anyone anything additionally? We are looking to make this number a reality. Read more.
Helping St. Rose School continue to thrive is a community effort. This year Advancement has planned a variety of events and outreaches to help meet our fundraising goal. Monies raised go to the operational needs of the school as well as to curriculum enhancements, professional development and other enrichment programs/materials. We hope you will mark your calendars and donate your time, talent and/or treasure to ensure our healthy future.
