"Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds. ~
-Theodore Roosevelt (1901)
Wishing our St. Rose School community a blessed Thanksgiving. May your hearts and tables be full and, together, may we continue to give thanks and serve those in need.
Greetings from Mr. G
November 22, 2019
I am grateful for all of your prayers and kindnesses during this difficult time for my family. The St. Rose School community is a great blessing in my life.
Dear St. Rose School Families,
While I have not been in the halls this week you have all been in my heart. I know that Mrs. B and the teachers are keeping things running smoothly and I am in the loop. Thank you for your understanding and prayers. They mean so much me. I will be back soon and look forward to seeing everyone.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to the Molison (8th) Pires/Ferry (5th) and Clavijo (4th & 2nd) families who have recently joined the St. Rose School community. We are delighted to have you with us on this faith filled learning journey.
Congratulations to our Advanced Math Club. They received notification that they have reached Silver Level status for the 10th year in a row!
This award is given after our club has met at least 10 times and there has been work done on specific skill problems. The problems are sent to the National Math Club and after they have judged them, the award is given. These students work diligently under the supervision of Ms. Smith and make a great team. Now they are beginning work on the Gold Level Award.
I heard that 50th Day of School celebration went very well. The students deserved recognition for great performances during the first quarter and it was a wonderful way to kick off what lies ahead. We continue to encourage their academic, spiritual and service oriented growth as they walk in these halls. A strong foundation ensures promising future paths.
We are gearing up for #Giving Tuesday December 3rd! Our students will be bringing cards and goodies to people in the community as a way of saying thanks and giving back. We hope you will help us spread the word about our #Giving Tuesday outreach. Stay tuned for a video that you can share with friends/family and don't forget to ask if your company has matching funds. Our goal is $10,000 in 24 hours and the Knights of Columbus (Supreme) has promised to match it. As we've mentioned, fundraising is critical to helping us close the Gap and keeping St. Rose School healthy for the future. Every gift helps! Thank you.
Last night Bishop Caggiano made an important announcement pertaining to the future of our Catholic Schools. His letter is attached for your review and we will be having a parent meeting on Thursday December 5th at 6:30 p.m. to discuss this in depth. I encourage at least one parent from each family to attend.
It is so hard to believe that Thanksgiving is next week! We will celebrate Mass together on Wednesday November 27th. The students should be in full dress uniform. Grades 4 and 5 will be our readers and gift bearers as well as altar servers with some help from Grade 8. Third grade will lead us in song. Please join us if you can. Thank you for contributing to the Food Drive which will help so many in need. Let us keep each other and those who are hungry, sick, lonely or tired in special prayer as we gather for our Thanksgiving feasts. I will be giving special thanks for all of you.

Way to go JV and Varsity Boys who played mightily against St. Greg's in the first home games of the season Monday night. It was a really close game for JV, only losing by 1 point with a final score of 28-29; Varsity also lit up the boards with a win of 45-33. The gym was packed and the cheerleaders did an awesome job rallying the crowds. Next up, Varsity girls at home on Monday November 25th, 6:45 p.m. Please come out and cheer them on.
Let's work together on Tuesday December 3rd to reach our $10,000 goal in 24 hours -- the Knights of Columbus (Supreme) will match it! Share the word with friends and family -- every gift helps us close the GAP and keep our school healthy for the future. Check if your company does matching gifts! St. Rose Students will be showing their appreciation to the community that day as well with deliveries of cards, goodies and song!
St. Rose School's Girls Varsity basketball team attended the Fairfield Lady Stags game against Dartmouth at Alumni Hall, Fairfield University Sunday November 17th. It was an afternoon of team bonding that included meeting the players, getting autographs and even spending some time on the court.
