We bid farewell to 4 portable classrooms and hello to sounder financial ground. Thanks to the HSA, all parents and St. Rose Parish for supporting this important endeavor.
Dear St. Rose School Families,
What beautiful Fall weather God is giving us. Like the changing leaves, your children are changing each day through the seasoning they receive in their classrooms combined with the love and guidance they receive at home. It is a joy to witness their daily growth.
Removing the 4 portable classrooms has been a major project and one that I am happy to report is complete. We took every measure to keep our students safe in the process and are pleased with how smoothly the job was handled. This is a cause for great celebration -- it represents a significant turning point in the financial health of our school. My sincere thanks to everyone who played a critical role in making this happen. On October 5th the Knights of Columbus have volunteered to come and clean out the area which we greatly appreciate. For the time being there will be fencing up but come Spring we have plans to make use of this new outdoor space.
The second annual Bonfire at Castle Hill Farm was a tremendous success with more that 200 people attending. I am sorry that I could not be there but I have heard so many wonderful compliments about the evening which is a great source of community bonding. Many thanks to the HSA!
I spent the last two days with Superintendent Dr. Cheeseman and my fellow Principals at a conference in Lakeville, CT. This was a good opportunity to exchange ideas and learn new ways of enhancing our school environment. I am grateful to Mrs. B for covering in my absence and to all families for understanding my schedule. Be assured that I have been kept in the loop of all school happenings and look forward to returning Monday.
Speaking of Monday, it is a very special day for St. Rose School -- it is Monsignor Bob's birthday! I know you all recognized him beautifully at Mass this morning and Monday we are offering a free dress down day for all students in his honor. Please take time to give him your best wishes when you see him. He truly is a gift to all of us.
Please note that given the warm weather forecast for next week winter uniforms will go in to effect October 15th.
One final point, progress reports will be available on the Parent Portal at 5:00 p.m. Friday October 4th. In preparation for this the Portal will be closed as of 5:00 PM Wednesday October 2nd. If there are any changes to this schedule we will let you know.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Mr. Bardhyl Gjoka

The heartbeat of our school is powered by the amazing activities taking place in all classrooms, Preschool-8th grade, every day. Our teachers and your children make an awesome team!
Thank you to all the families that joined together last Friday evening for our second annual bonfire event. We had a wonderful evening gathering with friends old and new around the fire. We are grateful to Tara Johnson for once again chairing this event - thank you, Tara!
With September almost in the record books, we look forward to October and even into, dare we say, November?! Remember to mark your calendars for the next Bingo event Friday, October 11. It's such a fun evening and we had St. Rose students well represented at our last Bingo - we hope you'll join us in October. Later in the month, we will host our Trunk or Treat event Friday, October 25. Get on Pinterest and start thinking of creative ideas to decorate your trunks for this fun family event! This has become one of our more popular events and we're looking forward to having some Halloween fun with you all this year.
Our Book Fair is coming up in November and the team is starting to lay the groundwork for the week-long event. We would appreciate any help you might be able to give us; please email us at email@example.com if you can lend a hand.
While we're on the topic of lending a hand...are there any parent photographers out there? We thought it would be a great fundraising idea to host mini-seasons for Christmas card portraits. If you are in the business, and would consider working with us, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope you have a terrific weekend enjoying this extended summer weather!

One of the many perks of 8th grade year is the traditional Turkey Bowl. Starting this year the event will be The Pumpkin Bowl (better weather, less muddy field) and it is slated for Wednesday October 9th at 1:00 PM out on the big field. The teams have been established and 7th graders are working on cheers. All classes in the school will have a dress down that day in their chosen team's color (light blue, orange). We will gather on the sidelines to cheer the teams on and hope as many parents, grandparents and other family members as possible can join us. Alumni welcome too!
Mrs. Petrillo and Mrs. Caterson will be the coaches. Mr. Canlas will referee and Mrs. B will emcee the event. It promises to be a lot of fun. In the event of rain the Pumpkin Bowl will be moved to October 16th, same time, same place.
We look forward to seeing you on the field and if you can't come we promise to take pictures.
We are pleased to be able to offer Before and After school Child care to our families. This is a fee based service that is staffed by trained, caring teachers and staff. Before school care is available starting at 7:00 a.m.; After school care is available from the time of dismissal through 6:00 p.m. Hours may change on holidays and school half days.
If you are interested please contact Mrs. Wong, email@example.com.
LET'S CELEBRATE MONSIGNOR BOB'S BIRTHDAY!
A very special day is coming -- Monday September 30th is our beloved Pastor's birthday. This morning after Mass the school gave Monsignor a lovely tribute including a song (lyrics written by 8th grader Sylvia Pinheiro) sung by the entire student body to the melody of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", a bouquet of colorful balloons and a beautiful framed collection of butterflies that were hand decorated by students and teachers. On Monday, September 30th there will be a DRESS DOWN DAYfor FREE in recognition of Monsignor's actual birthday. Please take time to wish Monsignor a happy birthday and remember him in your prayers. Thanks.
