Hello, it’s me, Jason, founder of Field Team 6! I never do this in the newsletter, but just this once I’d like to talk about fundraising. Because the good we can do is directly proportional to the funds we can raise. It currently costs us $1.50 to help register a Democratic voter in a swing state. And the voters we helped register literally saved the world in 2020. That’s the best ROI I’ve ever heard of.
In 2020, one major reason we were able to help register 785k Democratic voters is that we raised $1.2 million.
This cycle, on our current trajectory, we’re on track to raise a third of that. But we don’t want to help register a third of the voters we did in 2020. We want to help register one million more by the midterms.
Our volunteers continue to show up for us en masse. But to achieve our big, hairy audacious goals, we’re going to need our donors to catch up with them.
Here are just three of the dream projects we are trying to fund into reality right now.
Paid Textbanks into our 9 swing states! Texting is as effective as it is expensive. $2500 allows us to text almost 45,000 eligible voters. And those texts have a 90% read rate. We absolutely need to ramp this up to register all the new Democrats we need!
New, targeted data for groups we need to reach! Data for eligible LGBTQ+ voters – fresh data for young people – and post-redistricting data for more eligible likely Democrats in Nevada, and key swing districts in California!
An actual BOX for "Voter Drive in a Box!" Whenever a brave volunteer steps up to lead their own voter drive, we’d like to mail them a box filled with everything they need to run it: clipboards, voter forms, pens, stickers, state briefs, and more! It's not only super FUN to get something like this in the mail – it makes it so easy to hold a drive that it will help us immensely to scale up!
We turn dollars into Democrats. And our goal is to do the most good we possibly can. So if you can make any size donation (recurring is extra credit!), that helps immensely! Just click HERE. SOCIAL MEDIA STORMS
Did you know we're now sending out over 10,000 tweets every week and we've generated over 50 million impressions every week for the past 8 weeks? We couldn't do it without you. So join us at our next awesome social storm!
We've got two this coming week: our regular Wednesday morning storm (Wednesday, April 6 at 11a PT) and a special Tuesday evening storm (Tuesday, April 5 at 6p PT) for those who can't make our daytime events. At both storms we'll jump onto the web to raise awareness for Field Team 6's efforts to #RegisterDemocrats and save the world. We’ll also be recruiting volunteers for our ongoing in-person voter drive trainings, phonebanks, textbanks and postcarding programs. These storms are making a difference and will help form the basis of a blue tsunami this fall.
Storm any time on your own or join our scheduled storms for added momentum, fun socializing, and a bit of training if you want it. NEXT PARTNER MEETING
Our first "How to Partner with Field Team 6" meeting was a smashing success (see our recap, above) and it's got us super psyched for the next one.

SUNDAY, APRIL 24:
TAKING IT TO THE STATES!
Field Team 6 and partner Democratic Volunteer Center (DVC) are co-hosting an incredibly important webinar on Sunday, April 24 at 1p PT. The topic: how to beat back Republican attempts to use GOP-led state legislatures to subvert free and fair elections.
Attacks on the freedom to vote, and on our ability to freely and fairly count those votes, have dramatically increased in the past year, largely via anti-voter laws passed by GOP-controlled statehouses. These laws seek to limit every aspect of voting, including voter registration, early and absentee voting, and even ballot counting. Experts have also suggested that a fringe legal theory known as the independent state legislature doctrine, which is now appearing in briefs submitted to the Supreme Court, could lead to a subversion of the will of the voters in the 2024 presidential election.
In this talk, Daniel Squadron of The States Project discusses the crucial role of state majorities in creating election law, the critical need to elect pro-democracy candidates to statehouses, and the key target states to focus on for 2022 and 2024.

This week, the Field Team 6 World Tour of Awesome Volunteers has a new headliner: Ana Méndez. (That's her next to fellow superstar Rep. Adam Schiff) Hailing from the Bay Area, Ana uses her bilingual skills to translate our social media assets and connect with Spanish speakers via texting.
Ana says she's an activist "because I must. I’ve always voted Democratic even though I was registered as NPP (No Party Pref) for many years. 2016, the whole year, not just the election, changed all that. And I HAD to do something."
So she started phone banking and canvassing locally for the 2016 presidential and 2018 midterms. Then in 2020, she discovered her activist superpower – texting in Spanish – and helped create a Spanish texting program.
One of her most memorable experiences as a volunteer was Ballot Curing in Nevada in 2020. One man couldn't figure out how to take a picture of his license and email it in. "Finally, his granddaughter got on the phone and helped him set up an email account. Took more than an hour over text and phone. He was so proud that his vote would count! And there’s no better high than that!"
Ana is an engineer by trade and also volunteers for a number of organizations, including DNC’s Organize Everywhere, Bay Area Coalition, and the Santa Clara Democratic Party. So when she needs a boost to get pumped up for more activism, she blasts "Giants" by Matt Nathanson because she finds it hopeful and scrappy.
Ana says growing up in a "divided" household in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where politics are personal and intense, "gave me some tools to help bridge chasms. I’m also a radical optimist that always believes in tomorrow."
Speaking of tomorrow, she plans on focusing on the causes near and dear to her heart, like Democratic campaigns, food insecurity, and climate change. Because Ana dreams of "a country where EVERYONE is valued."

Now we're introducing the physical version. Our Voter Drive in a Box Box is not just metaphorical... it’s an actual box filled with everything a first-time drive leader needs to host their own voter drive: clipboards, pens, forms, stickers, and more – for up to 8 volunteers!
