MASS OF THANKSGIVING DAY On Thursday, November 23 at 9:30am, we celebrate the Mass of Thanksgiving Day. This Mass is a beautiful Cathedral tradition. What better way to start our national day of Thanksgiving than by celebrating the Eucharist, which means “thanksgiving”? All are invited to bring non-perishable food items to share with for the poor.

COMMUNAL ANOINTING OF THE SICK On Friday, December 1 at 12:10pm Mass, Father Ryan will celebrate a special Mass for the Sick including the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. If you experience chronic physical or mental illness, are facing surgery, or are experiencing the weakness that comes with age, you are welcome to receive the Church’s sacrament of healing.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL THANKS YOU A young woman works two jobs to make ends meet. Although her family is estranged from one another, when a sibling experienced a crisis and needed hospitalization, this young woman came forth to give support. Doing so strained her budget and made her short of money to pay a full month’s rent. This neighbor called the St Vincent de Paul Helpline requesting assistance (206-767-6449 or online https://svdpseattle.org/get-help/online-help-request-form/). With your help, she was able to cover rent and continue to stay connected to her sibling. Information, Jo Ann Wiesner, 206-291-4012 or wiesnerjo@gmail.com.

ST. JAMES RESPITE TEAM Each week Immigrant Assistance is contacted by migrants arriving in our community. In September we connected with siblings from a country in South America. Initially one of them walked up to St. James following an online search. They had just arrived and did not have a place to stay; we provided contacts for overnight shelters and invited them to return to meet with members of St. James’ Respite Team on another day. At that later meeting, the newcomer brought their sibling and shared that they were staying at one of the shelters we suggested. The siblings received Welcome Backpacks with essential items and Target and Visa gift cards, and we discussed their other, immediate needs. Their main priority was housing. A volunteer from the Respite Team walked alongside the siblings as they contacted property managers and applied for housing. Thanks to generous financial support from Catholic Community Services and others in the community, St. James assisted with their deposit, application fee and initial month of rent. The siblings are now in their new place, and will be able to purchase some of the home items they need with additional gift cards donated by a community member. We are currently seeking device donations for Respite Team clients for online English classes. Please let us know if you have a laptop, tablet or phone that you can donate; must be in good condition and have a working camera. Information, Erica de Klerk, edeklerk@stjames-cathedral.org or 206-382-4511.

TEEN, YOUNG ADULT AND ADULT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FAITH FRIENDS MINISTRY Faith Friends is a unique blend of our Faith Mentor, children’s faith formation program, and an inclusion ministry. The ministry's goal is to give children and teens ages 7- 18 with physical, cognitive and/or intellectual disabilities access to the parish community, social events, and faith formation. Perhaps the most unique aspect of the Faith Friends program is the Faith Peer program. Faith Peers are teens and young adults who have chosen to live out their discipleship and share some of their personal time in dedication and service to the goals of the program. Adult volunteers are needed for the Adult Leadership team. Consider getting involved! Information, Leticia Escobar, 206-619-0816, faithfriends@stjames-cathedral.org, or www.faithfriendsstjames.org.
