Hello and happy summer!

We are already midway through the year and have so many great updates to share, especially as we’re assisting more pet families than ever with our safety-net services. As of June 30, we’ve helped more than 9,000 dogs and cats through our mobile clinic program alone.

We just launched a Stay Pawsitive Summer Swag campaign that features new, fun colors and shirt styles—plus, a portion of each sale goes toward vet care for families in need.

You’ll also find other ways to contribute to our community work below. 

The demand for help is tremendous and, with YOUR support, we can continue changing the outcome for animals and the people who love them, preventing suffering and pet homelessness.

Our Stay Pawsitive Summer Apparel fundraiser features great shirts, tank tops and hoodies in fun colors, with part of the sales sponsoring wellness services for pet families in need. There’s also an option to donate extra. Please share the news with fellow animal lovers and know that our shirts make great presents, too. It’s a gift that keeps on giving!

Going the extra mile for pet family welfare

This year, our Mobile Community Medicine & Spay/Neuter Outreach team is once again providing a record number of services. We're on track to perform at least 3,000 spays/neuters, an increase from 2,750 surgeries in 2023 and roughly 2,350 in 2022. We’re also helping more pets than ever before during our walk-in Pet Wellness Clinics.



After the first six months of 2024, we can safely project that we will assist more than 14,000 dogs and cats with vaccines, flea treatment, deworming medication, nail trims and microchipping. Last year we helped approximately 13,000 pets during these walk-in events.

Keeping pets and people together!

We microchipped 401 pets in June, for free! A big shoutout to our microchips sponsors: Santa Barbara County Animal Services, SLO County Animal Services and Lompoc's CAPA. Pets with microchips are much more likely to find their way home if lost. If you still need to chip your cats and dogs, join us at one of our clinics to get them their permanent IDs—and be sure that they wear collars with pet tags too!

C.A.R.E.4Paws' staff and board of directors are grateful to The Grey Muzzle Organization for a $5,000 grant to assist senior dogs in need of veterinary care, including dental services. So many families struggle to access dental care and other much-needed treatments for their beloved, four-legged companions. With this funding, we can prevent suffering and keep pets with the people who love them. Thank you for the support and partnership!

A very happy tail! 🩷

So many community members do wonderful things to help animals, like Darwin and Julie, who have welcomed many stray cats into their loving home and rescued several dogs suffering from serious illnesses. Thanks to a grant from Petco Love, C.A.R.E.4Paws has been able to help out with free and low-cost spays/neuters, vaccines, dental care, mass removals and treatment of skin and eye problems.

“Two of the dogs were literally on the brink of death when I brought them home,” says Darwin, explaining that he found them in a junkyard with terrible skin and other health problems. “I took them to C.A.R.E.4Paws and if not for them, the dogs wouldn’t be alive.”

Adds Julie, “Without C.A.R.E.4Paws, we would have been lost. Our pets are all doing great because of the care they have received.”
