Dear Customers, Partners, and Associates:
In these difficult and uncertain times, I wanted to reach out to all of you to share some information on Blue Marble’s response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. I also want to provide you with details of our strategy for addressing this crisis and to assure you of the strength of this company and of our resolve to fight this outbreak by doing our part to help flatten the curve, as they say. First and foremost, I am confident that we will get through this together. However, for at least the next few weeks, our normal day-to-day operations will be impacted as we transition to working remotely.
The plan is to have all Blue Marble staff work at home for at least the next two weeks, with the possibility that this may be extended. We will have a skeleton rotating staff in the office to cover phones, process checks, process dongles, and deal with IT issues. We also are devising a ‘next step’ plan in case we have to further reduce the number of staff at the office.
This situation is very fluid and is likely to change from day to day so we do ask that you understand we are doing our best to maintain our normal business operations during this challenging period. Fortunately, Blue Marble is a very solid company with a twenty-seven-year history and even though you may not know it, many of our staff already work remotely. Having all staff work at home will not adversely affect our customer service, tech support, or responsiveness and should see virtually no change in response time. However, in the event that there are any issues, we do ask for your patience and understanding if we are a little slower than normal to respond.
We are very lucky that we decided a long time ago to host GeoTalks as a virtual user conference, so we are looking forward to talking with many of you online on Wednesday. As with most businesses and organizations, we are in uncharted territory. However, more than ever before, we live in a connected global community and perhaps we can use this to our advantage in times like this.
