Good afternoon

We’re expecting a significant snowstorm this weekend. Our crews remain at the ready and will be out in full force before, during and after the snow falls to clear and treat our roadways. If you must be out, please drive with care, don’t crowd the plow, and remember to follow these winter driving tips.

Bridge Group 18C_R – Frenchtown, East Greenwich/ North Kingstown

Next Friday night, January 30, weather permitting, we are scheduled to switch traffic to the recently constructed eastbound side of the Frenchtown Road Bridge to replace the portion that carries westbound traffic over Route 4 in East Greenwich. Prior to the scheduled traffic shift, crews will finish building the remaining concrete parapets, installing guardrail, and performing miscellaneous paving.

With the micropile foundations complete at the South County Trail Bridge, crews will place concrete for its center pier and north abutment footings, and, at the Devil’s Foot Road Bridge, install rebar for the bridge deck and continue working on its north abutment. No lane closures are expected during these operations.

I-95 15 Bridges, Providence/Cranston/Warwick

Next week as we continue building new bridges over I-95, expect alternating lane closures on I-95 North and South, from Park Avenue to Thurbers Avenue, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Scheduled operations will include installing debris netting for demolition of the Eddy Street Bridge, installation of a temporary retaining system for the construction of the south pier footing adjacent to an active drainage line at that bridge, and stair access at the Broad Street Bridge. Crews also will install bearings prior to steel installation at the Huntington South Bridge, carrying Route 10 South over I-95.

Route 37 Improvements, Cranston/Warwick

Bridge Group 51C: I-295 to Pontiac Avenue and from Amtrak to Post Road

We are scheduled to place temporary barrier to create a work zone as we demolish and rebuild the bridge carrying Route 37 over Route 2 (New London Avenue). This will require alternating lane closures on Route 2, from Sockanosset Cross Road to Route 37, Tuesday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Route 146 Bridges, Lincoln

Motorists can expect alternating lane closures on both directions of Route 146 before and after the Twin River Road Bridge, Tuesday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. This will allow our crews to install shielding between the recently placed steel beams as well as overhang brackets along their outer edges to be used for staging.

Route 146 Reconstruction Project, Lincoln/North Smithfield

Weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at this project, road construction remains a priority. This will require the closures of the west side of Sayles Hill Road, from Route 146 to Iron Mine Hill Road, and alternating lanes on the east side of Sayles Hill Road, from Route 99 to Route 146, with westbound traffic from Route 99 diverted, and on Route 146, from Exit 10 (Route 146A) to the Massachusetts line. Please follow signed detours during all closures.

Warwick Corridor Project

Our focus for this project remains building the infiltration basin adjacent to the I-95 North ramp from Route 113 (Main Avenue) East. Upon its completion, we’ll be able to redirect stormwater runoff to soak into the ground. As previously mentioned, no traffic impacts are expected as we continue this work.

Washington Bridge & I-195, East Providence/Providence

Construction-related activities continue on the Washington Bridge Rebuild project, with design, soil sampling, geographic surveying, permit applications, and the ordering of materials.

Weather permitting, we are scheduled to close up to two lanes for continued bridge preventative maintenance activities on I-195 West at the Washington Bridge, Sunday-Thursday nights, January 25-29, and February 1-5, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Also on Tuesday nights, January 27 and February 3, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting, maintenance crews are scheduled to sweep I-195 in both directions in a moving operation from I-95 to the Massachusetts line, and perform brush cutting on I-195 West just before the Washington Bridge, with up to two lanes closed, Tuesday night, January 27 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The approved in-water demolition has been completed to the required elevations. Next week, demolition crews will be continuing post-completion inspections and cleanup. Turbidity curtains will remain in place during this time.
