It's with great sadness that we find ourselves canceling the farmers market for the second week in a row.
Canceling is not a decision we take lightly, nor is it one we make often. The farmers market is, after all, a "Rain or Shine" event with the exceptions of safety concerns.
But last week brought safety concerns from potential thunderstorms and tomorrow's forecast shows more potential of the same.
In addition, our home field is currently at its saturation limit (as you can see in the picture below of the mark left in the grass by turning mowers) with the promise of more rain overnight and throughout the day tomorrow.
So out of an abundance of caution and respect for Huth-Westwood Builders, the owners of
and the Creekside Buildings and who so kindly allow us the use of the field throughout the season, we have made the early decision to cancel.
We hope that you'll take a moment to consider using the time you intended to spend at the market to visit the local shops like
The Market Path
Shisler's Cheese House
The Sassy Sunflower
that generally benefit from the increased traffic the market brings to the area. Or perhaps you could use that time to learn more about
our market vendors
, if they have locations you can visit or if they might be willing to make arrangements to get you that something special you were planning to shop for.
We also hope that when we are open again, you'll be sure to come out to support us and help make up for these two lost days.
Because the market is about more than just bringing the community together and offering fresh, local foods. It's about supporting the small businesses both in the field and around it, and we take immense pride in being able to do that.
