Volunteer Highlight

Isaiah 58:10 “Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.”

Always Happy to Serve

Volunteers from St. Catherine's Church were shining bright on Saturday feeding long lines of the hungry and working an obstacle course through the parking lot. All with a smile in the high heat. And we can't forget Mechanic Mike helping those in trouble.

Thank You St.Catherine's Catholic Church!

Local hunger-fighter Ned Cox and his family are once again participating in the "Living Below the Line" challenge, and they need your help!

Ned and his sons Carr and Hatcher are "living below the line" for five days this week to raise awareness about food insecurity in our region - that means they'll be feeding themselves with a budget of just $2.15 a day, the international extreme poverty line.

Watch as Ned shares the challenges that he faced tryingto feed his family with such a limited budget, and what we learned about the realities that so many of our neighbors in need face each day in this interview from 2022: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qquEueL6wTI

And if Ned's story resonates with you and you're eager to join the fight against hunger, donate in support of the Cox family's Live Below The Line challenge today: https://give.feedmore.org/fundraiser/6408665

Food Lion Feeds launches ‘Summers Without Hunger’ campaign

According to Feeding America, 1 in 5 children in the U.S. experiences hunger, a gap Food Lion Feeds aims to help fill.

Food Lion Feeds has kicked off its annual Summers Without Hunger campaign, continuing its fight against childhood food insecurity. The initiative, which runs from June 18 through July 15, has already helped provide more than 97 million meals to children and families in need since its 2019 launch.

With school out for summer, millions of children lose access to free breakfasts and lunches provided during the academic year. According to Feeding America, 1 in 5 children in the U.S. experiences hunger, a gap Food Lion Feeds aims to help fill through community donations and support.

Customers can participate by purchasing specially designed reusable grocery bags for $2 in-store or online via Food Lion To Go. For every bag purchased, 10 Food Lion supplier partners — including brands such as Campbell's, General Mills, Kraft Heinz, and PepsiCo — will match the donation, doubling the impact up to $1 million. Each matched bag equates to 40 meals provided to families in need.

Additional ways to give include rounding up purchases or donating specific dollar amounts at checkout. All proceeds benefit the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, which supports hunger-relief grants throughout the grocer’s 10-state footprint.

Food Lion associates will also volunteer at local partner agencies to help distribute meals directly to community members.
