Break Through Tech is turning 10!

Ten years ago, we set out to transform the tech talent pipeline—not only to open doors for women and emerging talent but to help organizations access a broader, more qualified pool of technologists equipped to meet the demands of a tech-driven society. What began as a visionary partnership with CUNY and Cornell Tech has since become a national movement. In today’s AI- and ML-driven world, the need for a tech workforce that reflects the reality of our society and brings bold, creative thinking to the table is more urgent than ever.

We could not have done it without you! Over the past decade, nearly 300 companies—from Fortune 50 to early-stage startups—have partnered with Break Through Tech to co-create hundreds of Challenge Projects that give students hands-on experience and offer partners like you a front-row seat to rising talent. These collaborations have helped shape a future-ready workforce—highly trained, motivated, and aligned with industry’s evolving needs.



As we look to the next ten years, we’re excited to keep building that future together.

How can we predict the final cost of an insurance claim the moment it’s filed?

That’s the real-world challenge Allstate brought to our AI Studio fellows. Using historical claims data, students developed machine learning models to predict final claim costs and identify the key factors driving those expenses. The results were fresh, data-driven, and full of potential. Read more about what they uncovered.

Our industry partnerships are at the heart of everything we do. We work closely with companies across sectors—from finance, healthcare, and consulting to retail, media, transportation, and emerging tech—to design real-world experiences that prepare students with the skills and mindsets companies need most. One such partner is ANOTE, an innovative startup leveraging machine learning to enhance accuracy in finance. Through their challenge project with Break Through Tech, ANOTE tasked a team of students to explore how AI can improve financial forecasting. The result: ANOTE benefitted from fresh perspectives and a preview of emerging talent while students had a hands-on opportunity to apply their technical skills.
