Community Garden Prep

The Lake Country Community Garden Clarksville is a non-profit organization with the mission of growing produce to provide fresh vegetables to families and individuals in need to the Clarksville Food Pantry. It is starting its 2025 season with volunteer efforts, new gardening methods, and opportunities for learning and fellowship.

Note:

Consider volunteering for the Community Garden to learn new gardening methods.

Volunteer Highlight

Car Loaders

You don’t have to be a gorilla, but it helps to have strong arms and back to do this job!

The loaders at the pantry take groceries out to cars and load whatever bags and loose items are in their cart into the back seat, or trunk, or basically wherever room can be found. Not all neighbors in need arrive in cars though – some walk, many come with their neighbors and friends (who may also be picking up for their own family), some ride bikes, and we even have a gentleman who comes on his riding mower. No matter how people arrive, the car loaders always find some way to get our neighbors as many groceries as they can manage back on whatever transportation mode they use.

Anne's Easy Chili with Hush Puppies and Dad's Cucumber Salad

Looking for a Quick, Easy Meal that will Feed Many?

You Can't go wrong with Chili!

Many of the needed ingredients can be found in the pantry boxes or on the miscellaneous shelf.

I add ground beef, a green pepper to the ingredients shown in the picture above. I either cook on the stove top or throw it in the crockpot for a slow cook if I'm going to be out all day.

Leftovers are the best part! Serve it on hotdogs, nachos and my favorite, with spaghetti. Add voice of toppings...cheese, onions, sour cream. The possibilities are endless!

Cucumber Season is Quickly Approaching!

Feed More has already started delving the early arrivals! There is nothing more refreshing in the spring and summer months than a crisp cool cucumber salad! Many like it creamy. Other's like it vinegary. I like it every way!

Here's a quick and easy creamy recipe:

Recipe (1X) yields 8 servings.

2 large cucumbers, peeled and thinly sliced,1 sweet onion, thinly sliced,1 tablespoon sea salt,1 ½ cups mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons vinegar, 1 tablespoon white sugar, 1 teaspoon dried dill weed or fresh, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon ground black pepper. Best served chilled!

Send us your favorite spring and summer salads

to use as tastings and recipe sharing!
