Holiday Without Hunger Campaign

As food insecurity in the United States increases, Food Lion Feeds launched its annual Holidays Without Hunger campaign to help families access the nutritious food that everyone deserves.

This year's Holiday Without Hunger campaign ran through December. The generous support from the Clarksville Community blessed the Clarksville Food Pantry and neighbors in need with 254 Food Lion Feeds Holiday boxes to share during the months of November and December. Thank you to Food Lion, the Clarksville community and to all who supported this effort!

Fact or Fiction:

Sweet Potatoes are Healthier than White Potatoes

✓TRUE

But not by much! This is always a "spud"-tacular debate. The sweet potato edges out the white potato mainly because it contains more Vitamin A, slightly more fiber and may cause a slightly smaller spike in glucose levels.

But don't peel away so soon! The good old white potato packs a punch of potassium and Vitamin C. It's also a good source of resistant starch which is starch that fills you up longer. Of course, these numbers change depending on the way we choose to eat them- tots and fries of either variety are less nutritious than either just baked with skin. It basically comes down to taste- which do you prefer?
