June 2025

Happy June! As we kick off the summer season, we’re excited to share all the fun and learning happening at The Goddard School of Sarasota. From sunny outdoor adventures to hands-on classroom activities, our students are diving into a summer full of exploration and joy. As always, thank you for being a part of our community. We’re so grateful to partner with you in your child’s early education journey.

We are excited to announce that Water Days will be scheduled every Friday during the summer. To help us ensure these days are fun and safe, please follow the guidelines below:

Attire: Send your child to school wearing a bathing suit and closed-toed water shoes. Bathing suits should have a top and bottom or be a full suit.

Sunscreen: If you want your child to wear sunscreen, please apply it before coming to school. You may also send in sunscreen with your child so the teachers can reapply it during the day.

If you choose to send in sunscreen, please see your child’s teacher to fill out a multiple product permission form.

Extra Clothing: Send in a bag with an extra set of clothes, including underwear, socks, shoes and a towel to dry off with after water play.

We will be providing ice pops for snack. Please let us know if you do not want your child to have an ice pop.

Thank you for your cooperation and support. We look forward to a fantastic summer with lots of water fun!

Now Accepting Step Up Scholarships!

We are excited to announce that The Goddard School of Sarasota is now accepting Step Up for Students Scholarships! This program provides financial assistance to eligible families, helping to cover the cost of tuition, including wrap-around care for VPK students and children with unique abilities.

Our wrap-around care hours are thoughtfully designed to enhance reading and math skills, ensuring children receive a strong educational foundation beyond their VPK hours. If your child is going into VPK for the 2025-2026 school year and you're interested in applying to cover the cost for wrap around care, you would apply under the New World's Scholarship.

If you are applying for Step Up because your child qualifies under unique abilities, you will apply under Unique Abilities Scholarship.

How to Apply for Step Up for Students:

  • Visit www.stepupforstudents.org
  • Create an Account & Apply – Follow the application steps and submit the required documents.
  • Select The Goddard School of Sarasota as your provider once approved.

Unit 10: Testing Tools for Investigation

Overview: Within Unit 10: Testing Tools for Investigation, children will learn more about investigating and the tools they can use to help them during this process using the following questions:

1. What can I use to investigate?

2. How can I use my senses to explore?

3. How do we solve a problem?

4. What can I invent?

Children will expand their understanding of how tools can be used to help them investigate ideas, places, people, and things. They will explore how their senses can help them find an answer to a question or problem. Then this might evolve into using common tools in new ways to achieve a new result. In the classroom this might look like using a mirror to observe their body movements in an infant class, using a water wheel in soapy water to create bubbles, using blocks to measure how far I can jump, or solving a maze together with a friend.

June Staff Spotlight

Hi, I’m Ms. Laura, the one's teacher here at The Goddard School! I've been in early childhood a couple years now. I’m originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, and moved to Florida eight years ago with my husband. I’ve been part of the Goddard family for the past four months and have truly enjoyed being part of this wonderful community.

In my free time, I love making memories with my husband and our son. Whether we’re exploring parks and museums or enjoying movie nights and game time at home!

Hi, I’m Ms. Kiera, and this June marks five years since I joined The Goddard School of Sarasota! I originally started out as one of the VPK teachers when we had just one VPK class open, and it’s been amazing to grow alongside this school community.

I’m a Sarasota native. I’ve also lived in Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee. I earned my bachelor's from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.

I’m a proud mom of three, two of my children attend Goddard, and my oldest is now in first grade. Goddard truly feels like a second home to both my family and I. I’m incredibly passionate about building an environment where families feel confident and at ease when leaving their little ones in our care because I know firsthand how emotional that transition can be.

When I’m not at Goddard, you can usually find me at a sporting event or spending quality time with my family.
