Update: Youth Attraction, Retention and Development Project

young professionalsHTAB, in partnership with the City of Hamilton, Economic Development; the Small Business Enterprise Centre; Youth Employment Network; and other partners, is developing a strategy to attract youth to Hamilton and to retain youth that currently attend post-secondary school in our area.  Key informant interviews and focus groups have taken place, and a literature review has been completed.  Two, 1/2 day strategic planning sessions with key stakeholders will take place late October/early November. The end result will be a strategic plan with specific actions that will support improved access and integration of youth into Hamilton's labour market.

Spotlight on Manufacturing: Understanding the evolving skills requirements in manufacturing in Hamilton

Are you a manufacturing employer, or HR manager?  HTAB needs you! We'd like to interview you for the Spotlight on Manufacturing project. The manufacturing industry is a vital and growing sector in Hamilton, one with evolving skills requirements, looming retirements by Baby Boomers, and the on-going perception that manufacturing careers aren't viable career paths for youth.

We will take the pulse of manufacturing in Hamilton by interviewing employers and HR managers in manufacturing sub-sectors (food, primary metal, fabricated metal product, machinery, and transportation equipment manufacturing). The results of our research will be presented at a forum for manufacturing professionals in early 2012. A job seeker resource will be developed.  To set up a 15 minute interview (either in person, or by phone) call Cyndi Ingle at

905-521-5777 or email: cyndi.ingle@htab.ca.
