Through the outreaches of Open Bible churches overseas, 1,737,732 people received Christ between 2017-2018.

Please pray for Field Director Ráphael and Angelie Quiñones, the members of the Open Bible churches, and those affected by the recent earthquakes. On Monday, April 22, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake shook Pampanga as well as several other provinces and the capital, Manila, on the main northern island of Luzon. A 6.5 magnitude earthquake rocked San Julian, a town on the Philippines island of Eastern Samar province on Tuesday, April 23. Angelie shares: “We praise God that no members or churches have been affected by the earthquakes. Please continue to pray for us and those affected. There have been 614 aftershocks reported.”

Missionaries Mike and Nancy Juntunen share: “In Romania Easter is celebrated on April 28
th
this year. This past Sunday we celebrated Palm Sunday. After church we and a few others were invited to lunch at the home of Mery, one of our church members. We learned some interesting Romanian traditions. The meal began with everyone taking a decorated hard boiled egg, turning to someone else at the table, and saying ‘Hristos a înviat!’ (He is risen), to which the other person responded with ‘Adevărat a înviat!’ (He is risen indeed). Then everyone peeled and ate their egg. Some people not only color their eggs, but they also paint them with intricate designs and sell them for Easter decorations at fairs. Not only is Easter Sunday a holiday, Good Friday and Easter Monday are also public holidays and many businesses and offices are closed. Our church, the Open Bible church in Gherla, will have a Maundy Thursday (a Christian holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter) service as well, complete with a meal and foot washing. On Sunday we will hold a special Resurrection Day service. It doesn’t matter which week we celebrate it, we are thrilled that Christ is risen. He is risen indeed!”

Executive Director Vince McCarty and Open Bible’s accountant Ryan Mills, are in Tijuana, Mexico, this week. They will meet with Puente de Amistad Directors Travis and Heather Hunsaker and missionaries Adam and Katie Henaman. Please pray for God’s anointing on this training time and meetings, and for safe travels.
