On Monday, January 23, 2017  Mayor Rahm Emanuel , First Deputy Commissioner at the City of Chicago's Department of Family and Support Services  Jennifer Welch , Alderman James Cappleman   and his chief of staff, Tressa Feher joined us for a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open our new safe home / emergency shelter!

The opening was widely covered on television, on the radio and in print! We hope you caught us on the local news, on Univision, on Chicago Public Radio (WBEZ) and on WBBM CBS Radio. We were also featured in the Chicago Tribune and in DNAinfo and by the Columbia Chronicle! Visit  www.apnaghar.org/apna-ghar-in-the-news for links to all of the media coverage!

We were grateful to have our  community and funding partners   tour the new space and host a reception for Designs for Dignity who generously donated $150,000.00 worth of services and goods for our safe home project. We are so thankful for their partnership throughout the process!

Board President Sameer Chhabria, board member Kalsoom Saleem, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Senator Dick Durbin, board vice president Alpa Patel, and executive director Neha Gill at our new safe home
