FACULTY/STAFF NOTES
* Pietro Bianchi's co-authored article titled "Joint Audit Engagements and Client Tax Avoidance: Evidence from the Italian Statutory Audit Regime" was accepted for publication in the top-tier Journal of the American Taxation Association. Bianchi, an assistant accounting professor also had a sole-authored article titled "Auditors' Joint Engagements and Audit Quality: Evidence from Italian Private Companies" appear in Contemporary Accounting Research.
* Luke Richardson's co-authored article titled "To Deduct or Not Deduct: Qualified Performing Artists" was accepted for publication in Tax Notes, a top-ranked tax law journal. Richardson, an accounting instructor, penned another article related to a new tax form that may simplify tax compliance for seniors, which appeared in Tax Insider, a weekly electronic newsletter of the AICPA. The article had more than 3,000 views since its publication on Aug. 30.
* Sagar Samtani, an assistant professor in the ISDS Department, was the runner-up for the Nunamaker-Chen Dissertation Award from the Information Systems Society. Samtani also won the "best paper" runner-up award in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' Intelligence and Security Informatics Conference held this month in Miami.
* Lisa Gaynor and her coauthors of a paper titled "Understanding the Relation Between Financial Reporting Quality and Audit Quality" won the auditing section's "best paper" award. The paper appeared in Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory.
* Timothy Heath received the Outstanding Area Editor award from the Journal of Marketing. He is a professor in the Marketing Department.
* Kerry Myers, an clinical professor in the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy, was recognized recently as a "Featured Expert in Money Laundering" by ForensicsColleges.com. The list is comprised of some the nation's outstanding professors in the field. Myers teaches courses in forensic accounting and legal issues.
* Dipayan Biswas received the Outstanding Area Editor Award from the
Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. He is a professor in the Marketing Department.

* Katelyn Mobley ('16, Accounting) is now an audit associate at Grant Thornton. She previously served as an assistant in undergraduate advising for the Muma College of Business.
* April Monteith ('01, Finance; '03, MBA) has accepted a new position at JPMorgan Chase, now serving as executive director, multinational corporations. She has worked in commercial banking for more than 15 years -- the last seven with JPMorgan Chase. She began her career with Regions Bank.
* Michelle DeWitt ('14, Marketing) has joined Walmart Media Group as a media sales manager - health and wellness. She was previously with Triad Retail Media and, before that, worked at Paradise Advertising. She was president of the AMA student chapter when she was a student at USF.
* Nelly Ortiz ('11, Marketing), marketing director at Roc Nation, was named to the 40 Under 40 list compiled by Billboard. She was honored for her work in creating a brand for DJ Khaled, the "I'm the One" producer who chronicled his weight loss on social media for WW International (formerly Weight Watchers). Ortiz also helped activate Big Sean's Puma partnership and merchandise marketing for Shakira.
* Taylor Moody ('17, Accounting; '18, MBA) is now a tax associate at KPMG. The former 25 Under 25 honoree had interned at the company while she was a student. She also was on the USF women's golf team.  
* Dec. 12, noon, the State of the Region presentation sponsored by the Tampa Bay Partnership will take place in the Marshall Student Center Ballroom. To register, click here.

*Feb. 21, 2:15 p.m., the Muma Thought Leader Series  event will feature Netflix Co-founder and serial entrepreneur Marc Randolph.  In February, Apple Co-founder Steve Wozniak kicked off the series, which was established to draw nationally recognized speakers, innovators, idea generators, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, authors and "turn-around artists" in business and industry.  Seating is limited and tickets are required.
