Emphasis on FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Aid)

In education arenas, the acronym FAFSA is common, but most don’t know it’s the threshold application for college financial aid. We hosted two virtual FAFSA events with partner UMBC. We anticipate that with our remote help100% of our high school seniors will submit a complete FAFSA and will qualify for financial aid. Learn about FAFSA here.

Volunteer Spotlight

"I volunteer for Building STEPS because, although I now live across the country, I grew up in the Baltimore and DC metropolitan area. It is still home to me in many ways and a place I want to continue to stay connected to and give back to when I can. I am currently a stay at home mom and managing distance learning for my own kids, but my background is in school counseling and college student development. Volunteering for Building Steps gives me the opportunity to continue to work with students and support their educational and career goals. I am thrilled to have that opportunity and the ability to stay connected at a time when our world can feel very isolated."
