An Update from us on COVID-19
We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this time. COVID-19 has magnified inequalities facing the low income communities and communities of color CRPE has been working with for 30 years.

We wanted to share with you what we have been doing to continue that work and to pivot to new initiatives to address immediate needs for the communities with which we work.

  • Emergency Water Deliveries:  We partnered with Leadership Counsel for Justice and Accountability, Community Water Center, and Self-Help Enterprises to secure bottled water donations for community residents who cannot drink their tap water and whose local stores did not have enough supplies to meet the demand due to COVID-19.

  • Establishing a Mutual Aid Fund: We are seeking donations to support CRPE mutual aid fund to provide cash assistance to residents in Kern, Tulare, and Kings counties who have been financially impacted by COVID-19 and who are not eligible for other funding support. We have so far secured funds to help about 150 families, but we know the need is much larger. To support the fund please donate at https://crpe-ej.networkforgood.com/projects/25983-donate-to-crpe and designate your donation for Mutual Aid Fund.

  • Planning for a Just Recovery: We are partnering with Jane Fonda's Fire Drill Friday team to plan an event to support Kern County communities and workers plan for a more resilient economic future as the oil industry in Kern County winds down. Please join the virtual event on May 1st to support Kern County communities and workers. https://firedrillfridays.com/
