letter from the President

creating meaningful memories

My daughter, Olivia, recently returned home after spending several years abroad. While she’s excited to head overseas again, having her familiar presence back in our home has reminded me what makes this time of year so special: creating meaningful memories with the people we love.

Longer days and warm weather aren’t just signs of summer. They mean conversations on the porch as the sun sets, weekend road trips to visit family you haven’t seen in months, and days spent at one of the many lakes surrounding Spokane. Olivia may no longer be the little girl asking me to play mermaids in the pool, but the joy we share feels exactly the same. “Fun” may look a little different these days, yet I feel the same happiness at a backyard barbecue with family now as I did as a child. Those everyday moments of joy are the gifts I treasure most—far more than anything you could buy.

Multi Gen Family

member highlight:

generations of growth

For nearly 50 years, Veda has trusted Canopy Credit Union through life’s biggest moments—from raising a family to navigating life after the loss of her husband. What began as a simple need for a local financial partner quickly grew into a lifelong relationship built on care, trust, and financial education.

“Things were very different back then,” Veda recalls. “You’d apply for a loan and wait a week to know if you were approved. With technology, everything is so quick—but what hasn’t changed is how the team at Canopy treats you.”

Over the years, Canopy has been a steady presence through every stage of her life. After her husband passed away in 2011, that support became even more meaningful. Veda grew up during a time when women had limited access to and agency over finances. Without her husband managing household funds, she felt lost. But she also knew there was somewhere she could always turn to: Canopy Credit Union.

“They’ve helped me with so many things.” From learning how to use her phone to answering questions about her account. “I’ve never felt like I was a problem.”

Link to Leadership Graduates

growth worth celebrating

Canopy Credit Union is excited to announce Link to Leadership’s graduating class of 2026. This graduation celebrates the completion of the “fifth season” of Canopy’s in-house Leadership program, designed and led by HR & Culture Director Spencer Shanholtzer.

This cohort’s graduation coincides with public recognition of the program’s quality, as Canopy Credit Union received the 2025 Inspiring Workplace Award from the Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Our team earned this award for several reasons, one of the most significant being the notable positive impact Link to Leadership has on Canopy’s staff.

The Inspiring Workplace Award celebrates organizations committed to creating meaningful workplace cultures where people can thrive. We are honored to receive this acknowledgement, but what matters most to us is what the Inspiring Workplace Award represents:
