To say that 2020 took us by surprise is the understatement of the century. If I am to take anything away from this unexpected and unusual year, it is that our library staff will go to the greatest lengths to ensure that we bring the Redwood City community the very highest quality services and programs. As you will see below in our 2020 Infographic, the numbers don’t lie. You sought out your library with and without our buildings open and we have done everything in our power to keep connected with you!
Prior to March 2020, it’s hard to believe that we had never recorded a storytime. Since March, we have released weekly series, such as Cuentos en Casa, Stories and Play and Stories from Your Community as well as countless online programs. Go here to find them all. Our Curbside team had to reinvent the way we get books and other materials into your hands and you were voracious with this service. Our staff assisted the City of Redwood City with COVID relief efforts, calling local businesses and day care centers with support. Our RCPL Bees produced 251 pounds of honey and Friends of Redwood City Library sold it all. Project READ also reinvented how they serve their adult, child and family learners and ran an immensely meaningful food distribution program for their families. And throughout 2020 our RCPL CARES team has been hard at work building racial equity in the Redwood City and North Fair Oaks communities.
I am proud, I am humbled and I am inspired to keep the creativity and passion for service going in this new year. Thank you, Redwood City, for being our friends and partners.
Your Library Director,
Derek Wolfgram

NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION
|
|
The Redwood City Library Foundation would like to thank the Seaport Industrial Association (SIA) for their generous donation to the Makerspace project at the Library. The SIA represents the industrial businesses at the Port of Redwood City, which provide important infrastructure for the Peninsula by adding construction materials, large-scale recycling, family-wage jobs, and capital to Redwood City. SIA said that they “are proud of the Redwood City Public Library for providing enriching and diverse learning opportunities for all of Redwood City’s youth and families. Keep up the good work.”
Due to Covid, the Makerspace project is currently delayed, but the Foundation needs help to reach the remaining $180,000 of our fundraising goal. Donate today and move us closer to a breaking ground date. Go to www.rclfdn.org
