"IMAGES" Photographic Art Gallery
River Life
Dear friends,
Welcome to my monthly "PHOTOBLOG" newsletter, which I have been publishing for several years and have enjoyed sending to friends and clients in order to keep them informed of my current photographic interests, new works, upcoming exhibits and other Gallery events.
A new "subject" is at the center of each Newsletter, with which I present a short series of pertinent images along with any needed description and details, in order to allow my viewers to become more actively part of the discussion.
Most of the imagery displayed will be eventually on view at "IMAGES" Art Gallery, 14406 Detroit Rd., Lakewood, and of course I always welcome anyone's comments and interest in my work. The Gallery is open and I would be very happy to extend to all an invitation to contact us so that a personal "safe" time for a visit could be conveniently arranged, if so desired.
Any of these and other images could be custom printed/framed and become part of your art collection, based on your specifications and desires.
Over the years my recipients list has gradually grown, thanks to your interest and support, and I encourage you to share this "PHOTOBLOG" with friends and art lovers in your circles.
More of my photography on view at
A sincere "thank you" for your interested attention,
Marcello Mellino.
This month Photoblog takes us down a couple of rivers I happen to enjoy: the Cuyahoga, around which Cleveland was born a few centuries ago, and the Rocky River, my Summer time playground!
My boating days are behind me, however I continue to enjoy my kayak which allows me to navigate the Rocky River quite a bit upstream from my usual launching area, often finding unexpected company where nature tends to be at its best and usually rather solitary. Yet, the Cuyahoga River is where one can find many interesting photographic subjects to shoot, since so much is daily occurring within its tortuous course up into the heart of our City. There you will see many of the enormous industrial plants still in function, producing much of what made CLE. such a prominent power in its early days.
Boats and vessels will soon be gone, however, as Autumn is in the air, bringing wonderful colors and lower temperatures...and great photographs of frozen waters!
The frozen Clifton Lagoons are such an interesting scenario throughout our Winters around here!
A couple of images of the river meandering around the Metro Park, slowly reaching its final destination, our Lake, begin this blog, with spectacular Autumn foliage leading soon into our usual Winter wonderland.
Downtown Cleveland as seen from the water below is always so interesting, and more so at night. The aerial b&w image of the Flats and its bridges was taken from the Carnegie bridge on a sunny afternoon. Tug boats at work, rowers and " live aboard" enthusiasts are few of the chance encounters on a boat trip up the Cuyahoga...
The CLE skyline at night, reflected on the waters below, makes for a great introduction to our City for sure!
One of several tug boats getting ready to work, while the Nautica Queen remains docked on the West side of the river, awaiting for the next group of passengers to arrive.
The Flats industrial area all around the river is seen in the distance, below the Detroit bridge.
Next to this, a very quiet spot along the Rocky River, where only kayaks can safely arrive...
Below, a sailboat I always loved seeing on my kayak excursions, then a frozen Rocky river with the CYC in the background. The last image shows the salt excavation plant along the west bank of the Cuyahoga river.
"IMAGES" Photographic Art Gallery is open and awaits your arrival! We have been very busy recently, presenting at a couple of West Side Art Fairs some of our recent photography which was met with great interest by the public at hand; many of our framed pieces found new homes, and several new projects were begun as well.
With the Holidays fast approaching, keep in mind that art and photography can be wonderful ways to present your loved ones with a meaningful, everlasting gift; please stop by on your next visit to Downtown Lakewood, and enjoy the variety of new and vintage art works currently on display at our Gallery.

See you soon,
