Crime Prevention Bettered by Combining Computer Science and Entrepreneurship
LSU is encouraging students to pair computer science and entrepreneurship as it empowers students to plan, design and optimize technology while instilling a wide range of skills in project management and business entrepreneurship.

A real-life example of this pair in action is Crimer, a crime prediction software, which started as a project in an LSU computer science class in 2018. Since the software’s creation, the students started a company, also named Crimer, and have raised $500,000 and have 12 employees – 11 of whom are current or former LSU students.

The panel kicked off with an explanation from two LSU professors on the 2019 Housing Needs Assessment, prepared through an analysis of Louisiana’s regional housing markets by LSU’s Public Administration Institute and the university’s E.J. Ourso College of Business.

“It’s quite a sight to see this many people join together to talk about housing,” said LSU professor Roy Heidelberg, one of the needs-assessment researchers.
