Simonne Draper: An Acoustic-Classical Composer

From Law to Music: A Journey of Passion and Dedication

Simonne Draper is an accomplished acoustic-classical composer and guitarist, whose music transcends boundaries and speaks to hearts globally. A distinguished member of the Czech Composers Society and a voting member of The Recording Academy™ for the Grammy Awards®, Simonne has made a significant mark in the world of music.

Early Life and Education

Though Simonne obtained a law degree at university, her passion for music composition was evident from an early age. Her journey into the world of music began in childhood, where she found solace and expression through the strings of a guitar. This early inclination towards music laid the foundation for her future endeavors.

Simonne later broadened her skills at the conservatory under the tutelage of renowned guitar composer Milan Tesař. Her education extended beyond guitar performance, as she also received guidance in composition during her lessons.

Her time was marked by numerous performances in collaboration with other guitarists, gracing Prague churches and local concert halls with their harmonious melodies.

Professional Milestones

In 2016, Simonne's dedication and talent were recognized as she became a member of the Czech Composers Society. This affiliation not only provided her with a platform to showcase her compositions but also connected her with other esteemed composers, fostering a community of musical brilliance.

The year 2019 marked a significant milestone in Simonne's career with the release of her debut album, Portraits In Guitar, under the record label MSR Classics in the USA. The album garnered positive acclaim from influential publications such as Fanfare, American Record Guide, and Concertonet, among others. Its resonant melodies captivated audiences around the world, earning airplay on hundreds of radio stations, including BBC Radio Kent, Radio Six International, and Radio Classic Praha. The album's music was also featured on established radio shows such as The Mike Rogers Show and Lively Lounge with Tony Currie, further solidifying Simonne's presence in the global music scene.

Collaborations and Recent Work

As an active classical guitar player, Simonne's collaborations with various award-winning artists have brought her music to prestigious concert venues and festivals. Her versatility and willingness to explore different genres led to a creative partnership with acclaimed British musician Jon Kennedy. Together, they remixed her compositions "Eclipse" and "Fairytale" in chillout and downtempo styles. These remixes were submitted in the recent Grammy Awards® under the category Best Remixed Recording, showcasing Simonne's ability to blend classical roots with contemporary sounds.

Simonne's collaboration with Bongo Boy Records has been instrumental in her musical journey. Her second album of original music, Silence of Eclipse, released in June 2024, continues to receive accolades and appreciation. She remains actively involved with the record label, contributing to compilation albums alongside various award-winning artists, thereby expanding her musical repertoire and reach.
