Staff Picks for Summer Sunshine
Madison's Pick:
Chat. Soucherie Anjou Blanc 'Cuvee les Rangs de Longue'
I almost never buy the same wine twice but I've gone home with this wine at least four times since I first tried it here at the shop this spring. This is classic Anjou Chenin Blanc - bone dry, lemon zest, white grapefruit, a touch of honeydew, and a big fresh streak of chalky minerality. At such a reasonable price, this is definitely an "everyday wine" but also the perfect pick to bring to a get together with friends, for a hot day on the patio, and totally versatile when it comes to food pairings. -$19.99
Patti's Pick:
2017 Ameztoi Txakolina
With all this hot weather I've had seafood on the brain. One of the first wines that comes to mind to pair with let's say grilled shrimp or fish is Txokolina. There is an inherent bright briny character with plentiful freshness from perceived green skinned fruits like lime and under-ripe pear. The palate has a natural spritz so it will tickle your tongue with a soft fizz. Ameztoi Txokolina finishes with a crisp minerality and snappy acidity making it a perfect choice for a quenching your thirst. -$21.99
Dave's Pick:
2017 Domaine du Petit Romain Rosé
There's a virtual flood of pink wine on the market these days. It's been a pleasure to see quality rose' replace white zinfandel in Americia's consciousness but they're not all created equal. We taste hundreds and bring in the ones that provide value and quality pleasure but some hit all the pleasure points and provide an elevated experience. Often for me these are obscure grapes from obscure regions but its also nice to have an affordable go to. One such wine is the  Domaine du Petit Romain. This wine has a lot of charm. It's reserved up front with a burst of red fruit in the mid palate and some juicy minerality on the finish. Satisfying and refreshing, this one to have on hand for any spontaneous heat waves. -$13.99
Doug's Pick:
2015 Domaine de la Chapelle des Bois, Fleurie 'Grand Pré'
I love taking recommendations. After asking Tony last week what I should pick-up, he pointed me in the direction of this incredible Beaujolais and it did not disappoint in the least. This is a well-crafted, extracted, textural expression of the Gamay grape with deep cherry and flowers on the nose and a long finish. This wine is now part of my repetoir for summer drinking. -$23.99
