Why do we continue to have outbreaks of Escherichia coli linked to lettuce? It's a valid question, and one possible answer is that regulators and industry do the same thing after an outbreak but expect a different outcome. After an E. coli outbreak, the typical play made by the Leafy Green Marketing Association (LGMA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is to coordinate a response where the former comes out with positive messaging and the later says it is going to improve food safety standards.

OSHA LAUNCHES REGIONAL EMPHASIS PROGRAM
ON WORKPLACE NOISE

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Kansas City regional office (Region 7) has established a Regional Emphasis Program to target inspections of general industry and construction workplaces at high risk of noise exposure and to raise awareness among Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska employers of noise hazards and required safety measures.
