Dear Natick Community,
Last night, the School Committee held a public meeting to determine the next step toward identifying a permanent superintendent for the Natick Public Schools. At this meeting, the Committee voted 7-0 to formally evaluate the current interim
superintendent, Dr. Anna Nolin, for the permanent position.
The decision to consider Dr. Nolin for the position is based upon her performance
since assuming the role in March 2018, her long and successful tenure in the Natick Public Schools, discussions with the statewide professional organizations of Massachusetts Association of School Committees and Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents, and consideration of current district needs.
This process will be a formal interview and evaluation process that will depend
upon input and feedback from the NPS families, faculty and staff, and the larger
Natick community. It is our intention that this will be a transparent and thoughtful
process. Your feedback, input, and opinions are critical and we hope that you will
plan to participate.
Below is an outline of the process:
- Review of interim superintendent evaluation (Public meeting – 9/24)
- Formal background and reference check
- In-person focus groups (separated by stakeholder group)
- Online survey
- Public interview with administrators/faculty/staff
- Public interview with community
- Formal interview with School Committee
To conduct this evaluation process, the School Committee will be working with the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC). This professional
statewide organization will provide assistance, including facilitation of focus groups, survey design, and timeline development.
We take the responsibility of appointing the next superintendent of the Natick
Public Schools very seriously and we believe that the evaluation of Dr. Nolin for the position is the best step for our district. We are firmly committed to maintaining our strong public school system and to identifying a leader that will best serve the needs of our students and the community.
We look forward to your participation in this process and will share more details
with you shortly. In the meantime, should you have any questions, please email In
