New Library Web Address

The library has used the address kirkwoodpubliclibrary.org for many years. And while we love it, it is quite long to type out over and over and over.

So, we now have a new web address - https://kplmo.org

This shorter address makes accessing our website much easier. You can still find us by going to https://kirkwoodpubliclibrary.org, but you will be automatically redirected to https://kplmo.org.

Be assured that our new web address is safe, but if your browser claims otherwise, contact us at 314-821-5770 option 5 and we can help you.

Programs for Individuals with Memory Loss

New Programming for Individuals with Memory Loss

On May 2, 2025 at 10:30 am the Kirkwood Public Library will be hosting an Alzheimer’s Association program called Dementia Conversations. This program is designed to help facilitate conversations with loved ones about seeing the doctor or when to stop driving or getting legal assistance. Registration is suggested.

On May 30, 2025 at 10:30 am, the Kirkwood Public Library will begin hosting memory cafes on the last Friday of each month. The first month will be Books and Blooms and will feature a program from the St. Louis Chapter of Wild Ones who will take us on a journey through the spring woods. Registration is suggested.

These programs are an addition to our other dementia resources like Reading2Connect books (books specifically designed for people with all stages of Alzheimer’s) and Reminisce Kits (bags with items that bring back memories and allow for discussion centered around different themes).

For more information about these programs and resources, contact Lynne Haynes at lhaynes@kplmo.org or 314-821-5770 ext. 1018.

Story Walk

Finding a safe, fun and educational activity that your whole family will enjoy may feel like a task. Leave it to the library, we've got the perfect idea!

Head over to Kirkwood Park to take a walk around Walker Lake where you can follow our Story Walk. A librarian has handpicked the book that you follow page by page around the lake until you've enjoyed a whole story and some exercise. Look for this story in April:
