Winter Reading

Sweet Reads!

Be sure to log in those pages, hours, or books for this year’s Sweet Reads Winter Reading! Winter Reading ends on Monday, January 22nd but there’s still time to sign up! You can even backlog any books that you read between November 18th and now. Join hundreds of other Kirkwood readers who have already logged their reading and picked up prizes! If you’ve already signed up and haven’t entered all your hours or pages, make sure to do so before 9pm on January 22nd so you don’t miss out on your “sweet” rewards.

Any prizes earned can still be redeemed after the end of the program, while supplies last.

Winter Reading is a Sweet Read!

Grant for New Tech

Thanks for a grant, the library has expanded its collection of Early Literacy iPad kits from 6 to 15. These kits come with an iPad loaded with educational games and apps for young learners.

We've also extended the ability for more than one Early Literacy iPad to be checked out per library card, thus making access easier for families with multiple children.

This grant has also provided KPL with a new 3D printer. Find more information on our website, where you can submit your own files or choose from our 3D print binder selection.

This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

Books & Beyond

The library received a lovely gift of a print of the Kirkwood Train Station from the family of John Hefele. We turned this gift into a contribution to the library by offering it to whomever made the highest offer. Our sincere thanks go to both the Hefele family and to Leslie Wainwright who made the highest offer.

Watch for weekly specials in the Shop all of December. Make this your first stop to find great holiday gifts for all ages. We appreciate your patronage and hope you will tell a friend.

Story Walk

Finding a safe, fun and educational activity that your whole family will enjoy may feel like a task. Leave it to the library, we've got the perfect idea!

Head over to Kirkwood Park to take a walk around Walker Lake where you can follow our Story Walk. A librarian has handpicked the book that you follow page by page around the lake until you've enjoyed a whole story and some exercise. Look for a new story in mid-December: Apple and Magnolia by Laura Gehl.

Thank You Donors!
